azhuntnut Report post Posted October 5, 2007 Jimmy, Everybody know that a Predator can kick a Kings butt . I personally have had very good luck with Predator camo. They have a new fabric out now for warm weather hunting and it works great. I actually was waiting by the road the other day waiting for my buddy to pick me up and he almost drove right past me and I was about a foot off the road without a bit of trees or bushes around me. David I do feel that camo is over rated and it it is WAY more important, no matter what your wearing, to always break up your outline by staying close to objects in your terrain and never skyline yourself. When I cross over a ridge I walk up to a bush or tree and then cross over, if I'm following a ridge I try to stay off to one side and not on the very top. The cool part about the new camo that is out there is the new materials being used. I only use Kings Shadow camo and love the different fabrics they use.....they've got stuff for when it's hot, and stuff for when it's cold! Kings is very well constructed and very durable also. I know a bunch of guys who like the Desert Shadow, but I mainly use the new Mountain Shadow for all my hunts.......it's awesome in every type of vegetation. Unless you are sitting in a ground blind or a treestand, always avoid dark, intricate patterned camo. You will look like a dark blob at a distance. It's almost always better to stick with a lighter colored camo that has highlights and/or a larger open pattern to it. Predator camo is very nice for these reasons and so is Natural Grear.....but Kings is better Jimbo's $.
COOSEFAN Report post Posted October 5, 2007 David......it wasn't that he didn't see you......he just didn't want to pick you up! I don't blame him, I probably would have kept driving too BTW...I love the Predator stuff and really like the Nat. gear......but neither company gives me anything for free, so....... KING'S IS THE BEST!!!

They don't. So what looks so nice to our eyes looks somewhat different to critters. You could use red and grey or blaze orange and yellow in a large pattern and still have effective camo. -TONY
devinv Report post Posted October 5, 2007 natural gears website does make a good point about not needing black or shadows in the gear because they occur naturally, never thought about that. kinda eliminates the realtree patterns which are kinda dark up close, much less at a distance. which predator pattern does everybody use? IHunt2live Report post Posted October 5, 2007 Lots of realy good advice here. I use natural gear and I have some realtree pants that for some reason got realy faded that I use alot. But like you have all said, its about how fast you move, if your useing the tarian and veg. to your advantage. One thing I do is to make sure my clothing isn't tight. One reason I can't stand tight clothes but mostly it helps to break up your outline. I use a soft brim had for that reason.
runningbird Report post Posted October 7, 2007 I think there is some good advice here. Especially about staying in the shadows, and moving slowly. I also think is very important to have a background, trees rocks bushes behind you or at your side. Since this is the bow hunting forum I think you should also be looking for the quietest camo, just my opinion. mark
ajohunter Report post Posted October 10, 2007 I have been using the Realtree AP HD green for the last few years and I love it. But like most people know its all about concealing your movement and blending in. I prefer to sit near foliage while im glassing to break up my outline and this pattern has worked great while hunting in Arivaca and Ajo, and all the way up to Williams.
