FS Brahma Angus Limousine bred Steer

Recommended Posts

I bred and raised this to eat. After his birth I sold off the other cattle and kept him. He's about 3 years old.and I've dumped more than $2000 into him. Beef is getting really pricey but I just don't eat beef much anymore.

I don't know his exact weight. I'm guessing over 1,000 lbs on the hoof.

Brahma gave him his size as Angus tends to be smaller. Limousine gave him his length. Angus gave him his flavor and propensity to put on fat.

I would like to get $1,750 for him. If he nets 600 lbs that would be about $2.91/lb plus slaughter fees. Slaughter/butcher fee add about $1 per lb..

The steer has no shots and was raised on my pasture and quality hay grown in the SRP Indian Reservation.

I'm located a couple of miles East of Bass Pro Mesa.

Get with some friends and divide up the meat and the cost.

I recommend that all cuts are divided on the basis of percentage of the total paid. 1/4 paid should equal 1/4 by weight of each different type of cut. I can't legally have it butchered and sell the meat. But everyone that buys in becomes that percentage owner with that percentage of each type of cut by weight due them.

Thus 1/4 would be by weight;

1/4 th of roasts

1/4 th of each type of steak

1/4 th of hamburger.

Etc. all by 2/4 th of total weight of each.

Wildwoody bought one this way previously and then delivered the meat to everybody. But complete transparency was kept and must be kept.

SPF- A friend of Todd South contacted me via phone and wanted it and committed to taking it right as I was getting swamped by activities. He is supposed to pick it up on Tuesday. I'm sorry I did not post it at the time as I was very occupied. He's coming down from Taylor/Snowflake.

I'll keep every one up to date.

I'm sorry Wildwoody, but he committed first. And another member was second by about 10 min., but you might have been able to get in with him.

I appreciate all of the activity and good thoughts. I wish I had another one for you but all I have now are sheep to sell. At least they don't require a butcher. And you keep everything you want from it.

So about $2350 total cost and 600#'s. Split 3 ways $783 for 200#'s. or 4 ways @ $587 for $150#'s?

Yes, $3.92 per lb.That's if it only yields 600lbs. It may yield more. And he's almost totally Organically raised. No shots. No chemicals. No added hormones. Grass and Alfalfa fed. He gets 1/4 of a bale of hay at each feeding, so 1/2 of a bale per day!!

No more cattle and I'm reducing the sheep down to the minimum number of lawn mowers that my land can support. No more kids at home so I get to do everything myself.

I was not raising it to sell. But now I eat more salmon, cod, chicken, shrimp, etc. I don't have any health problems that I know of, but my tastes have changed and I believe for the healthier since I'm not a "young man" any more.

But nothing beats a really good smoked brisket or perfectly good prime rib!!!

But my smoked chicken and smoked turkey aren't too far off and my cooked salmon seasoned and on lime/cilantro, basmati rice with lightly cooked broccoli 🥦, onion 🧅 and carrots 🥕, and sometimes peppers, or with black beans, corn green onion and cilantro is not second class either.😁

I never posted the phone number. But he still was the first to commit to buying it

Again, I thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
