I Messed up 3B questions

As many do in life or just me I put the wrong hunt number for our muzzleloader hunt. I had put last years 6A muzzleloader bull elk, which this year is the 3B muzzleloader bull elk tag. Has anyone hunted 3B? I know its not a guarantee but our bonus points are fairly high now. And I am a little worried as I do not know the unit.

Early or late?

It pisses me off that they change hunt numbers from year to year. Is there a good reason for doing this that I don’t understand?

I’ve always assumed it happens when they add or remove a hunt with a lower number so things shift.

It’s not a great hunt. Were you trying to apply for early or late 6A? I haven’t looked to see if there even is an early hunt this year.

Comparing late to late, it’s probably not a drastic difference, but 6A is probably better because there are a lot less tags. 3B late is like a general hunt in other units.

That being said, there are decent bulls there. I’d be hesitant to point guard.

If it snows than you can see alot a bulls that move.   If it doesn't shoot the first bull you see.

I had this hunt in 2023. Tough hunt, lot of hunters in a small area.

What is your goal?  Trophy or meat?  If you wanting meat you have a decent chance, but the bulls we saw were spikes and a few rag horns.  I was fortunate to come across a good bull on my way back to the truck on the last evening.

This. I’ve never even considered using the previous years hunt number. heck when you scroll down it says the unit next to the number.

We saw tons of bulls and I passed on several 320-330”ers

i also passed on a monster 5x5 that I regret after all was said and done. 

last day we were on a monster 6x7 and time was ticking down. Got to just a few minutes before legal light ended and a 4x raghorn comes to within 75 yds, the big bull was screaming about 200 yds away and wasn’t coming my way, so I shot the raghorn. 
 

only thing I regret on that hunt was the huge 5x5 I passed mid hunt.
