Big or Bust Report post Posted February 8 Know there are some seasoned Rocky Point folks on here. Looking for recommendations on half day or full day charters or a boat for a group of 4. We want to do the boat all to ourselves. Gulf fishing is what we want I think. Wives involved but outdoor wives. Not sure what species are biting that time of the year but do want some fresh fillets. Want to catch fish and have a good time. Thanks for help.

NOTAGS Report post Posted Thursday at 03:37 AM Can always catch a bunch of bass and trigger , grouper fishing is usually still good in June too. Waters warming up so YT and whites will be gone to deeper waters

If you’re gonna plan a trip, try to schedule it on a slack tide , close to the half moon. The tide change in that upper Sea of Cortez is insane, up to 24’ on a high tide. Makes bottom fishing super tough, as you’ll only have less than an hour on the slack tide. Holding bottom is key, makes the difference between fishing and catching. YT are in the area this time of year too though . We caught snapper, broke off a grouper while snapper jigging, , and lots of big bass and trigger two weeks ago.

NOTAGS Report post Posted 16 hours ago Sad to say, a miserable bastardo , nicknamed “ Captain Anal” by one of my regulars and best friend….oh heck, that’s me. I have a place and boat in Cholla. Last year I worked way too much, I plan on making up for it this year. I’m not familiar with the charters, but be specific that you want to fish for grouper or White Sea bass this time of year….otherwise they’ll put you on bass and trigger which are great fun and eating, and non stop action, but big fish are there for the catching if they work for it. You latch into a gulf grouper, your life will be changed…..addictive! Whites are primo eating!
