San Carlos Lake - camp trailer

Recommended Posts

Would like to go up and stay the weekend up at San Carlos lake, bringing my travel trailer.

For those who are currently camping up there, anything I need to worry about outside of normal precautions?

Thanks in advance.

Watchout for Habitat Stamps, Just kidding.

Have seen plenty of camping from trailers to tents and even back of the pickup and haven't heard any issues arise yet.

Getting a bigger trailer in there might be a little tough. Go slow. The road is a slanted white a bit to get where those trailers are in the pic. Larger trailers would make me nervous going past that. Theres also a sharp turn getting on the ramp that could be an issue with a long trailer. There was several smaller trailers and tents last weekend.

You can park anywhere to the east of the ramp.

So much for that thought. Buddy doesn't want to go there so I guess we will try Roosevelt instead.

Hopefully we will get on a few crappie there. Has anyone tried recently?

Appreciate everyone chiming in. Maybe another time.

A customer of mine shot me some pics early Friday.  About 13 nice slabs, 2 big largemouth and a big channel cat.

We ended up at Roosevelt. Couldn't get on the lake yesterday due to high winds and rough water. Fished this morning for bass and crappie from cholla up to bermuda flats. Not even a sniff at what we were offering.  Not many fishing boats out there at least on the Tonto End. I'm becoming more and more positive that I just suck at fishing these desert lakes.

Anyone having luck on crappie from the shore?

Some people have been yes. It’s been a little spotty. Afternoons have been best from the shore. A lot of the fish we caught Sunday were post spawn
