It’s like vortex optics, lots of good ones. Lots of bad ones. Which one did you get? I got the bad ones. 🤣. There are plenty of people who haven’t had any issues though. The barrel interior finish is just one drawback aside from the barrel to action fit. Why some shoot and some don't and why it keeps accuracy smiths in business. Glad to see their prices have gone down obviously due to sales pressure from companies like HOWA who is now the leader in "out of the box accuracy". My humble opinion... Agree with Howa’s. I just put a Howa barreled action in a XLR chassis and the thing is 1/2 MOA. amazing shooter in 6.5 creed. I guess I get lucky with rifles

Had to have been in the mid 90’s. I think back then they were a legit custom gun. They were $2499 (a ton of money back then). I remember thinking “man if I work my but off and get a good job, maybe someday I’ll have me one of those”. When I worked at Sportsmans, we had the glass case with the "high end" stuff. A lot of fires were CA, that were literally 700 SPS actions and stocks with a carbon barrel and muzzel brake.
Hoss50 Report post Posted 15 hours ago I have shot 3 different Howa/Weatherby Vanguards over the years. All base models, and all fully capable of sub-moa. My 257 Weatherby was a legit .75moa gun, and the 300 Roy was too after the muzzle brake. They had the old factory single stage triggers too. The 3rd one was a 6.5x55 that sat on the shelf at Sportsman's so long I bought it new for $275. Guess what. Sub-moa all day. I really wish Howa would put just a little more effort into making some. Mid tier type stuff and I think they could really cause some waves in the lower to mid-tier factory rifle market.
Hoss50 Report post Posted 15 hours ago The Howa i bought for $275 shot sub-moa. The Springfield Waypoint carbon barrel carbon stock gun is bought last month just went back to Springfield today on an RMA because it wouldn't shoot less than 1.25moa. They are guaranteed at .75. Honestly I have heard alot of suspect things about CA. I hope they are getting it figured out, but honestly every time I see one on the used rack, I just assume it was one of the ones that won't shoot, so they got traded in.
