Coues 'n' Sheep

3 1/2 weeks in Zimbabwe.... I made it back!

Recommended Posts

Below is a link that the video editor (Eric @ Payson Outfitters) of this adventure I recently shared with my good friend Ron Price recently posted on YouTube…. It is a very graphic and not for the faint of heart…Please do not watch this hoping for a happy ending… Bear in mind that everything you see in this clip was a matter of life and death…. An unfortunate incident, that I am glad ended in our favor, for being in the wrong place at the wrong time in Africa can cost you your life. It is 5 minutes of the scariest moments of my life… the video was shot by the CM Safaris camera man, Justin Drainer… I was shooting still photos that day and am very glad I was not suppose to get any of this on film myself for I was far too scared to do much more than run and hide…. Justin, My hats off to you Pal! You are a Great Cameraman! Sorry for the low def video… the HD version will be complete in due time.

Holy Crap!!! Lucky for everyone that guide had enough composure to get between everyone and the charge and make such a lethal first shot, stopped her in her tracks.

Thanks all. Watching that clip still gives me chills....

I can't wait till the video is done... all HD... and some of the action scenes will be replayed in slow motion....Eric (Payson Outfitters) is now done separating and formating the raw footage and now the work of putting is all together begins. He tells me that we did better than I had hoped and about half of the footage is "good stuff"... so that should make for a Great final cut!

Hey all... Eric over at Payson Outfitters sent me what will be "Chapter 1" of our Africa video.... the last chaper will actually have the rest of the Ele footage and hunting in it. Please don't Crucify the camera men (or the narrator) in this video... but Eric would like to know what you think of the editing and the overall video..... Eric asked me for star ratings, kinda like this.....* sucks..... ** poor.....***mediocre....**** great..... *****excelent..... Thanks! I personally thought is was great except fo me being in it.... <img src="http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

This is about 13-14 minutes of high def Video.... it takes like hours down load if you don't have High Speed internet.... so please be advised..... Also click play then pause..... it will start to download then.

I would have to give it five stars and rate it as excellent - from the music to the footage and editing are all tops, really enjoyed it. Nice job Gino, what an amazing experience - looking forward to seeing the rest. I've been to the Dark Continent twice and going back in 2011. Like the potato chip ad says, "you can't eat just one" once you go and the jet lag subsides, you are dreaming and looking for a way to get back again. That place is a magnet.

Great job!

I think that was fantastic! Just curious, does the PH have to pay for that animal when he has to put one down due to safety reasons? That had to get the blood PUMPING!

No... but the animal is owned by the Gov. so nothing can taken by the PH or the hunter.... and they frown upon these kind of happenings, but as you can see in the video... we had no choice. He actually shouted her down once before she charged.... she had every chance to leave us alone.

I would say she had every chance to change her mind, considering he waited till within yards to put her down. That is what you call calm nerves under fire :o

This hunt was booked with CM Safaris at the SCI show in Reno... The SCI and Dallas shows are probably the two best places to meet outfitters from all over the world and book hunts, because you can often talk to past clients while there... if you can afford to hunt there, you can't afford not to go to the shows and do some research. ;)

I have been home for just over a year now... and this trip seems like a fairytail... I still cannot believe that I actually experianced such a great adventure first hand. :)

The month of May also means that Chasin' a Dream Outfitters has been open for a year as well! Congrats to Jeremy and Kristy!!! ;)
