New to Grandparenting

Recommended Posts

My husband and I recently gained a 4 year old grandson (son's girlfriend's son) and we love this grandparenting thing. Fabian kept saying he wanted to go get deer with Nana Deb and Papa Sam so all who know me knows I'm taking full advantage of this. Here are photos of some of Fabian's outdoor adventures. Last month we all went camping in the Williams area. I brought along my son's old toy gun for Fabian to pretend hunting. I also made him up a little fishing/hunting license. Then this past weekend My husband and I took Fabian on an overnight trip to the Eager/Alpine area. I believe we have a future hunter in the making!!! At least I'm working on it.

There is no doubt you and Sam will make great grand parents. He's a lucky kid and I'm sure he's going to love the outdoors. I bet Kenna is thrilled to have him part of the family. Thanks for sharing all the pictures Deb. Looks like a great time was had by all. :)

TJ, yes Kenna loves having Fabian in our family. She told someone he was her "grandson". We had to introduce the word "nephew" to her.

The bull was outside of the Grand Canyon, a no hunting area. I couldn't believe how close we got. Of course it's looks even closer since I had the camera zoomed in.

This is great, I want one too.

My son is 31, he needs to slow down on the surfing and running 10k per day and get busier doing indoor sports.

I took Fabian back up to the high country yesterday and today to pick up my daughter from camp. As we were driving roads, looking for wildlife, I hear Fabian say ever so calmly from the back seat "Where are we? Let me look at the map and see." as he had a map in hand. Too hilarious and what a bright 4 year old he is. Granted he couldn't read the map but he had a purpose for one.

You are truly blessed for making that young fella a part of your lives. Grand kids are a gift. God Bless you , hope you have and make many fond memories. It is something that young man will always remember. Good to see the youth getting out and enjoying the great outdoors that Arizona has to offer.

The years I watched my daughter and two grandkids growing up were the happiest of my life.

My daughter is 57 now, my granddaughter is 31, and my grandson will be 27 soon. I love all three dearly, but there is nothing like having a child crawl onto your lap and give you a hug and say, "I love you daddy (or granddaddy)."

I must admit that my wife and I spoiled all three.
