Here is Brads well informed comment from the previous post-------

Yes, but when the 2nd amendment has failed us time after time with murder, maybe its time change it like many amendments have been changed before. By the way I went studied goverment at ASU and the only reason that law was written, was to protect us from the British if we ever needed to again! I think we are safe now. NO MORE GUNS.---------

He did hit a nerve and it is because he is typical of the misinformed jerks that spout rhetoric with absolutely no basis!! How much time has he spent really researching the issue here? I would say virtually none so here you go bud, time to get educated, OH and not only did I study at NAU, I GRADUATED!!!

First if you are going to spout off about government and how you studied it at ASU, maybe you really should have done so. Reading the student council section of the ASU school newspaper does not count.

Your first statement about the 2nd amendment failing us with murder after murder-- WRONG. You have seen the bumper sticker, "if you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns" well that means that you will be unprotected in your home and you including your family will be unable to protect yourself. Guns are a fact of life, they will always be here legal or not. Dont believe me , look at drugs, they are illegal aren't they. The laws have sure cut down the drugs in this country now haven't they!!!

The other thing is how many murders are actually perpetrated with guns? How about knives? Cars? Barehands? baseball bats? Rocks? Shall we outlaw them as well? HMM!? If someone is going to kill someone that is all that matters, they will find a way to do it gun or no gun!! The problem here is that the people who commit these crimes have failed us!! They would have killed regardless in most circumstances and the gun was just the handiest thing available. So you are incorrect about the 2nd amendment failing.

Your 2nd statement is 100% ABSOLUTELY, COMPLETELY WRONG. If you really knew your history you would know that the 2nd amendment was actually a proposed part of the Bill of Rights in 1787. It was introduced to prevent a tyrannical government from using its armies to politically control the nation! Our nation was protecting itself from itself!!! A well armed militia will always overcome a federal army!!! No matter how big!! This was BORROWED from England where the right to keep and bear arms was used in a similar circumstance. Initially people there were required to keep arms in every household, then as the state was corrupted by the church, only rich landowners could own guns and then only rich non Protestant land owners could own guns. At that time a Bill of protection was formed to allow all people to keep and bear arms and thus protect themselves against tyranny in their home country. True Democracy in action, the government became accountable to the people again for awhile.

Well in 1787 a little thing called Shays Rebellion(you studied history and Government at ASU right Brad? If you dont know what that is , call one of your old professors or actually Hey novel idea, open a book and read it!!) The government was not able to suppress it as they could not mount an effective federal response. This led to the formation of the federalist and anti federalist parties. The anti Federalists were against an army with no civilian control as it was a threat to Democracy. They were able to form a compromise(THE MASSUCHUSETTS COMPROMISE look it up) with the Federalists to add the right to keep and bear arms and have a standing militia to the Bill of Rights. They did this and it was amended several times and actually appears as the 2nd amendment as we have it today!!!!

IT HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR FEAR OF ENGLAND OR THEM ATTACKING US AGAIN(someone should have studied a little harder!!!!!)

So little man, the next time you would like to bend my ear about government and amendments and so forth, you better bring a full box of ammo to the argument and leave the box of bullsh-t at home!! Because it stinks and frankly so do people who are uninformed, misinformed and uneducated about topics that they pretend to be well versed on!!! Go back to school and learn something about the history of the great country which you live in!!!

TO everyone else sorry about taking up the post space but now Brad can determine his opinion on historical fact rather than what he can contrive just to make a point.

Good Job DOC,

In 1994 approx 1 mil. innocent people were murdered in Rwanda, not with guns but machetes. Had those people had a few guns to protect themselves, that number of a million dead would have been a fraction of what it ended up being. Guns don't kill people, people kill people, guns are just one of many options available to those that wish to do harm, they also happen to be one of if not the best deterrent to those same people bent on causing harm.

az4 life,

He pushed multiple buttons actually. I really cant stand those holier than thou people who dont even really grasp what they are arguing about. Especially when they say they know something because they took a class or studied it and they are completely wrong! Then they are lying to me and that is another thing I really cant stand!! ag

"Our safety, our liberty, depends upon preserving the Constitution of the United States as our fathers made it inviolate. The people of the United States are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution."

I am sure alot of you have seen this before

The History Of Gun Ownership

The first time you or I confront terrorism --- foreign or domestic --- we become the first line of defense, and

it's too late to call in anyone else.

An armed law-abiding citizen is America's first line of defense.

Gun History :

Whether you agree or not, it's an interesting lesson in history. Something

to think about...

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to

defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

-----------------------------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. !

------------------------------

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million

dollars.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent. Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns! While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with

firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break- ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian

politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the American evening news or hear our president, governors or other politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws

affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans.....before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.

If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends and acquaintances.
