Happy Father's Day

Recommended Posts

Happy Belated Fathers day to all the fathers out there!

My oldest is at that age where she is tagging along with me on hunts. My little ones will soon be joining along. Trying to show my kids the best part of growing up is being outdoors and hunting! Also need to thank my wife, without her there would be nothing.

Like all of you before, my dad is the one who instilled my love of the outdoors and why I chose a career in wildlife management/conservation. No matter how much we fought growing up, we always buried the hatchet fishing on the Des Moines River below Red Rock Dam. I don't remember who said it above, but if you still have your parents, cherish every minute. I lost my dad on April 10, 2004, just 15 days before my daughter was born. I miss him every day and I'm learning to be a dad with what I was taught, rather than being able to ask for advice now.

I've learned to cherish every minute I get with my kids, whether we're out hunting, fishing, at Taekwando, or a soccer tournament. Sometimes, its as simple as sitting in the backyard having an Otter Pop! Of all the things I've done and continue to do, being a dad is, by far, the best thing I've ever done and the best job I've ever had. My family, especially my kids, drive me every day.
