Trolling motor/fish finder

Recommended Posts

I get this is a fairly simple set up situation, just curious if I’m gonna mess things up if I tie my fish finder leads into my trolling motor leads way up high so that I only have the one connecting leads to my battery?

Does that make sense?

I realize this is simple for many but me and wiring and making a wreck out of projects goes hand in hand!

I'd add a couple similar connectors and wrap some electric tape around both +/- sets near the terminal to keep them together. I don't like having to troubleshoot electric on the water, but if I had to, I'd want to separate those.

Also, I've gotten creative with LEDs and switches without issue, but both the TM and finder are designed to go straight to the battery. Edit: designed could be argued I know..

If it were me, I would wire into that trolling motor power, but I would put an inline fuse in.  The trolling motor fuse is gonna melt that little 16 ga or smaller wire, before it trips it out in the  case of a short.
