  5. Hey guys, I drew my first out of state NM tag. Really excited to put in some work this coming up season. Ive got a couple questions. Ive been e scouting like crazy in unit 17, the san mateo range and magdalena of course. Just curious how much the weather in january in new mexico fluctuates and if its the typical " Snow will push em down" mentality. Also will the muleys be pushin does pretty hard that time of year . Is that pre , post or center of the rut? Also will the deer be with elk or do they tend to feed in different areas. Any info greatly appreciated.

  8. Greetings all: If you haven't heard, the air gun has been approved for use with crossbow permits during archery seasons. R12-4-216 Crossbow Permit The Commission proposes to amend the rule to allow a Crossbow Permit holder to use a pre-charged pneumatic weapon, as defined under R12-4-301, using bolts or arrows for the take of wildlife. This change is proposed as a result of customer comments received by the Department. It's time for the archery community in Arizona to unify together and put a stop to this. Please take at look at the attached document and if you agree with this stance, keep reading. ABA Air Bow Position Statement.pdf Here's how YOU can make a difference: 1 Write a letter to our delegates. Tell them how you feel 2 Tell your friends, ask them to write a letter if they agree. 3 If you are involved in any other hunting/archery organization or community, inform them of the situation by passing along the attached document. Then ask them to write a letter, or public stance statement to show unity amongst groups. 4 Come to the next commissioners meeting April 6 & 7th in Phoenix. Stand behind us as we stand up to oppose this. Send your letters to: Jay Cook - jcook@azgfd.gov rulemaking@azgfd.gov Hope everyone is having an excellent day Cheers

  14. howdy all, who else here has a 12a archery tag this year? I'm familiar with the east side and becoming familiar with the west side now as i've already been up there this year once and by the hunt plan to be there another 3-4 more times to do some further scouting. As it seems the usual for me when i pull a kaibab tag my hunting buddies aren't able to make it up there with me this year as they have other hunts planned at the same time not in the bab so I will be hunting solo. So far i've focused on area's to hunt in and not so much "camp" or drop my trailer in. I'm looking for some suggestions on roads to look at in regards to having a decent amount of camping spots open, cell phone isn't required either but naturally it would be nice for the evenings. I know cell reception would be limited to say a 5-8 mile radius of jacobs lake where the tower is. If you've got suggestions for area's besides the burn, joe's mud hole for me to take a look at i'm all ears but by no means am I here asking or looking for secret spots. I'm determined to get time in the field using my boots and glass to make the best of it, but open and truly thankful for any suggestions to help me narrow down my focus a little bit. Pic for attention and to spur the excitement of the upcoming bab hunt!

  22. Hello all, Tons of firsts for me here, first time on the forum, first antelope hunt and first time hunting Unit 10. Im trying to figure out where to hunt / starting point for scouting. I’m on google earth and OnX trying to make sense of all the ranches , public lands and private lands as I debate hunting on the big Boquillas. Does anyone have any maps (or a napkin sketch) that show the other ranch boundaries ? So far I thing I’ve been able to ID the Big Bo, Babbitt and Perrin but looking for Diamond A. I hear the whole unit is prime for antelope but can’t decide if it’s worth the fees to go on the big Bo. Any area recommendations, hunting tactics, or general wisdom about hunting antelope in this unit would be greatly appreciated.
