San Carlos tag fees way up

Recommended Posts

Your theory has one major and basic fault.... The American government agreed to the terms... These terms were not set by the Natives... If I agree to continue pay you for a crime that happened 100 years ago than that is my fault... I can not blame you and I am sure you would cash the check... right? The "Sovereign Nation" is the only card they have... and once again these terms were set by the American government...

If the Natives did not take care of the there land you would not want to hunt it... Sure some houses are in disrepair BUT the country side is in prime condition... Once again the best elk herd in the Nation... So they are taking care of what is most important to them.. Mother Earth not some structure built of brick.

By charging higher fees the Tribe is becomming self-sufficient... Hunting brings alot of money to the Tribe and its individual members... That is good... If they don't make this money they will never get off the dole.

There is noooo way you can call it gouging.... Gouging is take advantage of somebody.. In the lower 48, hunting is a luxury, You dont have to hunt... You say that you want the Res to be a vital nation... Well one of the most valuable thing any nation has is its natural resources...right??? Well, there is demand for the tags... Let them charge the going rate.... Who are you or anybody to say that Capitalism is wrong...

Politics on the Res are definately different... But that is not the issue. Nor is the Casino issue... The issue is the price of the tags...

Not for the opportunity to hunt some of the largest elk in the world.. Just because you can not afford, that does not mean it is gouging.. Gouging is when you are taking advantage of the situation... Like charging alot of money for bottled water during a disaster... that is price gouging. How much did the Governors tag in AZ go for?? is that gouging? According to you YES.

The indians are taking advantage of the situation. There are limited elk, and it is very hard to get drawn anywhere in the US so they are taking advantage of these things to get as much $$ as they possibly can. Sure it is price gouging.

Treestandman you are dead on! It is gouging!

The Native leaders have figured another way to put the screws to the white man. I would bet, that not 1 diem of it goes to anything the average tribe member benefits from. Probably discretionary for leaders. But hey, we cannot ask to see the books cause they area soveriegn. LMAO. About as soveriegn as my big toe.

I think it is truly sad what they have done to their own people and themselves but I have no pity for the members as they let their leaders continue to keep them in squalor as long as they have a bottle.

.

They are never going to change as long as they hold on to their govenment hadouts and blame everyone else for their problems. they penalize others outside the trible every time they can, and it serves as a reminder that will never aloow te wounds of past generations to heal.

By Definition.. Gouging is : to subject to extortion or undue exaction

GUESS WHAT you don't have to hunt... It is an honor to hunt... How much are your Sheep Tags? Elk Tags? If the tribe is gouging then so is the state of AZ...

and to keep you on track.. the issue was the price of tags... if you don't like it don't pay it... Bottom line...

You are right we can not see the books... So I can comment and neither should you...Because you don't know the facts..

Remember the dividends go to the tribal memebers not the leaders therefore they can do whatever they want with there cash...

You guys are just grasping for anything... GOOD FOR THE TRIBE....

I think they should charge whinney AZ residents twice the going rate... yah that would be great... They would have three rates.

Tribal member rates...

Non-Tribal member rates...

Whinney AZ resident rates....

they can charge whatever they want... Supply and Demand....

More Old English for the Cheif and the warriors. If you go up there and fish on the res. the game wardens " single feathered dudes" treat you like crap and have the presonality of fish dung! I had one stop me one time and ask to see my license and when I gave it to him he just said "okay cuz if you didn't have one I would have to take something from you!!!". My butt everything goes to the tribe, it goes to who ever takes it . Oh I forgot they are a sovereign nation aren't they.

If you don't like it or the way you are treated don't give them your business...

They have always been good to me... I once had a warden give me some info on javelina herds... I was on them thick...

If what was stated earlier is correct about the Indians being able to apply for hunts in Arizona as residents and at the resident fees, then why can they then claim they are a sovereign nation and get all of those advantages also. It sounds to me like they should be applying as non-residents and paying the non-resident fees if they want to hunt on land that is not part of the reservation.

Okay guys. I need to step in here and say something. I am sure the rest reading this agree. We don't need any pissing matches on this forum. If we are going to start calling eachother names and start threatening one another, then we shouldn't be posting in the first place. There are such things as private messages that you can send to do that.

I am not thin skinned in any sense but also don't like to see threads turn to garbage and bring down the quality of the forums. Amanda can pull the post all together, or actually ban people from posting. That is not what everyone wants. We all have qualities that bring a different perspective to the site. It would be a shame to lose valuable info and experience.

Don't lower the standards Amanda has set for her forum.

Regards,

Chef

Jamaro and Treestandman.... if you can't be civil, don't post on this forum. I have deleted the posts that were personal attacks on each other. Please don't resort to name calling.

And thank you Chef for stepping in. I very much appreciate it.

Amanda
