You used to be able to get permits in Globe at Circle K, and minnows at the marina at Soda canyon but I haven't been down in a couple years. Off their website for the permit. Minnows, I get mine at liars korner

I ask because I was there last weekend and I didn't see much signs of life at that store. Would be great if they did have minnows.
dutchmanazA1 Report post Posted March 19 I didn't fish...just wanted to see what the lake looked like, but will be up there this weekend. The only usable ramp that I saw was at Soda Canyon. There's one at New Government that perhaps is possible, but I'd think you'd not have to mind scuffing up your boat fairly good. Either way, be prepared to get your feet wet getting in your boat. There isn't a pier or anything to tie your boat off.
LifeFeedsOnLife Report post Posted March 19 How long does the bite generally last? It's been 15+ years since I've been crappie fishing and this is making me very tempted. I'm just not sure if I can make it happen for another week.

If it’s not going you could always hit Alamo

dutchmanazA1 Report post Posted March 22 You did better than we did on the crappie. Marking fish everywhere but had issues getting them to bite. Guess we are pretty rusty. I think we ended up with only 9 or so between the 4 of us. Must not have been in the right area. Beautiful day on the lake. Caught some nice bass, a couple of catfish (which shocked me) and 1 carp 😂. Seems I have some more lessons needed on the crappie.
Apache7mm Report post Posted March 22 Glad to hear everyone having a good time at San Carlos. Don't burn yourself out at one lake, a little birdie told me the big bass are biting at Talkalai and we just stocked Point of Pines and Seneca Lakes with some good looking trout the last two days.
