Phil Carr Report post Posted May 22 Thanks guys for your information. What are your thoughts on steel cable verses synthetic rope on the Winches? The same winch is several hundred dollars more for the synthetic rope.

n2horns Report post Posted May 23 Another good winch - https://www.comeupusa.com/ Go for good synthetic and stay away from steel. Matt from Matts offroad, beats to shoot his synthetic rope and all holds well. The cost being more, but wont kill you if it snaps like steel cable. I have from day 1 had synthetic and also picked up all synthetic soft shackles. I also added to my kit a kinetic energy rope, not cheap but worth it. again go watch YT matts off road recovery. I use Bubba Rope for my soft shackles, kinetic and winch extension. Get yourself a Factor55 ultra hook, fairlead, pulleys to change angle or double back, You can't rely on anyone to have any gear to help you if you get stuck. You need to self service and have all your own gear. Adds up quick, but buy few at a time. I have and used stuff from Master Pull. Think about how a recovery can go and how many points of contact you need at a minimum. 2 soft shackles, 1 or 2 pulleys, 1 kinetic rope ( i got 30ft big bubba) Dont dont dont skimp and buy cheap anything, not the place to do that. have fun shopping

Nickp3d Report post Posted May 28 I have used these before. They work great moving elk in the field, or when you need to change vehicles! https://www.amazon.com/885030-Cordless-PullzAll-Lifting-Pulling/dp/B00DAZ5PS4/ref=asc_df_B00DAZ5PS4?mcid=6997eba383e23ae3ba6c3f23f57e691c&hvocijid=1014769093124983798-B00DAZ5PS4-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1014769093124983798&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9030075&hvtargid=pla-2281435179018&psc=1#productDetails
RNGRDOG Report post Posted May 29 Cute, but not going to be much help in a recovery situation.
daverp Report post Posted May 30 I bought a Warn M800 many years ago to throw on the 2002 Tacoma. When I bought the 2017, I took it off the 2002, rebuilt it, and mounted it on the 2017. Has served me very well over the years, and pulled us out of quite a few stucks. Never felt the need for more. Having said that, were I to be in the market for a new winch, Warn something in the 9500lb + category would surely get the nod for the larger Tacoma. Synthetic line or forget it. When I took the 100' of line off the Warn when I rebuilt it, I threaded in another eye. Line was still in good shape. Between that, the 100' of new synthetic I spooled on after rebuild, and a 50' synthetic extension, I can reach out to 250'. And the 150' of extra line behind the back seats takes up virtually no room.
