Lost rifle

Recommended Posts

Posting for a friend. Hopefully someone can help him get his rifle back. Saturday 12-27 around 4pm he took his boys shooting at the Safford rifle range. His 10 year old boy has a pig hunt coming up and it was the kids first time out shooting. He set the gun down by the truck and some how forgot to put the gun in after getting the boys loaded.  He noticed that the gun was missing and drove straight back but someone already picked it up.
I know this is a long shot but if anyone has any information he would greatly appreciate it

What rifle and caliber? I was not there, but I may be able to help in a different way.

Check with the police to see if anyone turned it in and...were there any cameras in the vicinity?

He called and made a police report. It was a 6.5 creedmore savage. I believe he gave the police the serial number and info on the gun.
I don’t have a facebook account but I will let him know to try facebook out. I’m not sure if the Safford rifle range has cameras but I will tell him to check if they do. Thanks for the tips

There is no range manager. Contact the city IT Department, if there is cameras they would be the ones you need to talk to. Ask for Sam. I am at the range multiple times a week. if you want to PM details on the rifle I will keep an eye out.

Thanks, I was told there are no cameras at that range. After hearing more of the story, a person there at the same time might have some info on what happened with the gun. He drove a silver/gray Mustang or Camaro with a loud exhaust. Mid 30’s white male with brown beard. I’m not saying this guy took the gun just that there were 2 other shooters there at the time and he left shortly after the gun was left in the parking lot. Also between the time my friend drove back and after the mustang left the range a white beat up ford drove in shot a couple times and left. All within 15 minutes.  The police department classifies the gun on the police report as stolen. I guess if the person who picked the gun up doesn’t make a good faith effort on returning the gun it is classified as stolen, not lost

I hate leaving stuff. Left a new folding chair at the Casa Grande range a couple of years ago. A friend left a pair of Zeiss binoculars on a hill in 29 years ago.

Totally different from a gun. Sucks to loose stuff for sure but a firearm is a different ballgame.

Bonnsaw.

Have that kid take Russ up on His Offer. I'm sure Russ has real good intentions. (Boarman) AKA Russ

Yup. Nobody ever committed a crime with a pair of binoculars.
