Cool velvet coues. Score?

Recommended Posts

I took these photos through my spotting scope at about 500 yards and then cleaned them up a little. This buck had four small kickers and the tip of his left main beam is splitting or he's growing a drop tine. His 3rds curve so much it's hard to tell the length. What do you guys think he would score?

Hard to tell exactly what going on since the pics are a little too fuzzed out. I'd say his 2's are about 6 inches. 3's maybe 4. All I can see is the eye guard on the left antler. G1 guessing 4 inches. He is super narrow so that hurts main beams. Guessing 15 ish. 13.5 inches for an average coues deer mass. So 42.5 inches per antler. 11 inch inside spread maybe. 96 ish not counting whatever extras you could see going on. That's my guess being conservative. Remember you can reference measurements of the head to give you good estimates. Front corner of the eye to the end of the nose 6 inches. Ear openings ( from the white tuff of hair in the crotch to the tip of the ear 6 inches). Cool looking buck for sure!!!

Thanks for breaking that down Becker that's about what I was thinking. I showed him to some other people and they were saying low to mid 80's so I was questioning my scoring ability.

Wildcat,

Cool buck! I don't mean to hi-jack your thread but it's crazy how similar bucks can look. This buck went 107 5/8 (for reference). Who knows, maybe you're close to where we killed this buck. Good luck with him and hope you can connect.

Tines,

That's an awesome buck and they do look similar. I'm pretty sure they're from the same unit.

Here's a comparison picturepost-2549-0-15762300-1377655633_thumb.jpg
