.300 RUM load suggestions?

Recommended Posts

For heavier bulletin, 208-220 use a slower burn rate powder like Retumbo, H1000 or 7828. 4350 works well with the mid weight 165-180, bullets.

Does anyone have any stock ammo from the store advice?? Still don't know how to reload just yet

Unfortunately You will just have to buy a few boxes of different brands/loads till you find what your particular rifle likes. I am just getting into reloading and finding that 'right load' for my rifle. For years I exclusively shot the Remington 180 grn Scirocco power level 3 out of my .300 RUM, and it shot under an inch so i never changed anything. I started playing last year and bought some Nosler trophy grade stuff with the 180 grn Accubond, it is an awesome round but didnt shoot as well in my rifle. It shoots great for other guys though. .300 RUM ammo isn't cheap, but to find the one that shoots for you, you'll have to spend the money.

I would suggest what Doogan said above: buy a few brands and see what your rifle likes. I would buy hsm with the 210 bergers, Remington's best ammo they offer, maybe some nosler, and Barnes and federal. Then go shoot some groups and see what groups the best out of your rifle.

If you ever reload I would recommend the Berger 230gr hybrid target bullet. My rifle likes them in Remington brass, 89.4gr retumbo, fed 215 primers, with a coal of 3.899". It is moving 3,048fps at the muzzle. I was able to shoot a 1.75" 3 shot group at 1,000 yards with it...

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
