Tonto Pass?

Recommended Posts

Simple question, but the USFS website is vague.....

Do I need a Tonto Pass to camp, scout and/or hunt in unit 23?

If so, is a pass required per person, vehicle, camp....?

Thank you, Bob

Depends on where you are at.. I know I needed one for any access to the lakes and parking near the Salt River.

Signage is pretty good for fee areas. If you dont see signs no fees. Usually there are several signs in fee areas

Was told by the forest service a couple years back while calling dogs near the lower Salt that a pass was only required if parking in a designated lot where it was required. He said it was not required for pull of the road/shoulder type parking.

the tonto pass is only for "congested" areas. the salt river, the lakes, camp sites (like haigler creek for example). we go to 23 all the time and don't need a pass.

What did you get drawn for Bob?
