Do you know your birds?

I rescued this bird from our Halloween webs. Can someone please tell me what kind of bird it is. Hopefully its not rare or endangered and will end up outlawing spiderwebs for Halloween. Thanks Ken

I could be wrong but looks like a species of Nightjar to me. Tough to see a scale in the photo, but if it was smaller bird it could be a Common Poorwill (Phalaenoptilus nuttallii).

whip poor will? he sounds to blue to fly......

I agree or a gray version Whip-poor-will. No wing bars so nighthawks are out.

wingbars are a little tough to see when wings are folded like in these two common nighthawks.

Beauty either way, op glad you saved it.
