Only seeing 1 hunt this year for doe- not the Nov one. Am I reading this right? Just Oct?

That is correct.  I spoke with the GF Officer on the turkey hunt and the buck to doe ratio was down.  They removed one hunt.  Said it is normally one to one but is was 57 to 100 this year.  He said it should only take a few years to recover.

There's a buck to doe ratio up there of  57-100. Right what they smoken.

One to one doesn’t sound right either.

I thought 12a was managed closer to 35 to 100.    The reason you were given seems backwards.   If you wanted to have a higher buck ratio wouldn’t you KILL more does and less bucks?   They did reduce the late hunt by 25 tags.

Game warden was pretty knowledgeable.  He said they normally see quite a few twins when the fawns drop but last year there were very few twins.  Bottom line is last year the birth and survival rate was not what they wanted so they dropped the tags.  Glad they are managing the deer for our future.

Just finished the app for the boy. We have 12 AW as first choice, and some local units as well (21, 20b). Also put him in for Javelina- he hasn't got one yet. Maybe we'll get a hunt in the same unit for both at the same time..

And.. middle son got the hunt! Also a late youth Javelina in 18B. I’ve never seen him so excited.

He really wants a bolt action. Time to sell the Remington 7400..
