Unit 22 Muley

Recommended Posts

I drew unit 22 mule deer from 11/01 - 11/07 this year. I also have the elk tags for the same unit a moth later. I have been doing a lot of research on the elk. Any good starting points as far as areas for the Mule deer would be awesome

Mule deer are scarce , very pocketed, sunflower and lower.

I agree.  While there are mule deer scattered through the entire unit, they do seem to be pocketed holding to particular canyons and foothills.  I’d look for areas that have decent year round water sources in the desert.

i have the best luck in fingered foothills and canyons that have a lot of texture.

Good starting point is getting in your vehicle and start looking. Results haven’t been out 24hrs.

Killed my first deer and several after in Hells Gate back in the 70's , some ruff country but great memories.

I was thinking about the Mt Ord area. Not sure where Hells Gate is.

Mount Ord has been hunted out, hells gate is near the pocket, back side of Bartlett lake is real good for carp.
