And now...unit 33 is Burning...

This is the ridge between Buehman and Bullok canyon... Fire moving down into Bullok Canyon right now. Fire is huge! My guess is everything east of Mt Lemon Hwy burns. On the way out they had closed Reddington Road at the bottom.

Incident Overview

 

The fire reported the morning of June 30 is in the foothills of Redington Pass near Burro Tank. The fire is burning in tall grass and brush with a moderate to high rate of spread. Aviation resources assigned include Very Large Air Tankers (VLAT), and helicopters. Ground resources include three crews and miscellaneous overhead. The Burro Fire is expected to transition from a type 3 Incident to a type 1 Incident Management Team tomorrow.

Could Seneca new one yesterday in that direction from star valley, not shore if it was this fire

It's worked uphill quite a ways, I'd say the fire is less than a mile northeast of Hitchcock Campground at the upper head of that canyon. It's in the thick trees at least some above 6k feet...

 

We watched pines explode and slurries getting dropped before they closed the bottom....

This is exactly the same route and pattern as the Bullock fire 16 years ago. Too many fires not enough resources or crews.

What a beautiful picture of a terrible thing. Hopefully the weather starts helping. We're on two days straight of monsoons down here in SV hopefully it's hitting you guys up there.

Nothing here in Phoenix yet either although there were a lot of thunderheads to the south and east of us yesterday.

I see the lightning in the whetstones but it hasn't made it to us yet.
