6.5 creemoor loads

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

i'm going to start reloading for the creedmoor, i'm going to go with the H4350 and 143ELD-X, just wondering what load worked best for you guys that use those products, i have been using the 130 brgers but want to go to a heavier bullet, i'm shooting with a Tikka T3 CTR 20 inch barrel.

Thanks for the input.

Good thread Max, i'll be doing the same here in the next few months. I think your spot on using the 143 ELD-X.

I had pretty good results using a max load of H-4350. I had one rifle that shot IMR-4350 a tad better than the H.

I have posted this before but I have a 6.5CM with a 20" barrel shooting 143gr ELD-X that liked 42.0 gr of H4350 at 1MOA and loved 45.0gr of Superformance at ~.5MOA with an extra 40-50 FPS. I understand the difference in temp sensitivity but I shoot the load in circumstances that it should never matter.

I get 2750 FPS. Lapua brass, CCI 450.

Note these are over book max, tested in my rifle.

Two Indians tracking obliviously wounded deer in snow shot by another hunter. One says " deer hit but will live". Other one says "how know"? The other responds " found 6.5 Creedmoor case in snow"! LOL!!🤣

The 2750 was with Superformance.

I'd have to measure COAL but my CBTO is 2.200" with a .002 jump.

Loaded 3 test rounds with h4350 and the eldx          40.5.     41.        41.5

all 3 shot big holes. Slight pressure signs at 41.5 and only an average of 15 fps faster so stuck to the 41 gr at .005 off. 2660 fps average
22” barrel

Seriously speaking the ranges at which people are shooting game with a 6.5 Creed are pretty ridiculous. Shooting a 140grain in a 20" barrel is a challenge. Slower powders like H4350 are more efficient in barrel lengths of 24-26 inches. Shooting in shorter barrel lengths increases muzzle blast and extreme spreads with little advantage over a 130 grain bullet. I've been shooting the 6.5 since it came out at paper targets not game. It's a great cartridge with 130 grain bullets

Higher BC? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Twist of the rifle.

You’re right on BC if you actually need it for your intended use.

The Twist most likely isn’t a factor.
