Influencers and permits

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the entities/influencers on YouTube that generate money from their videos are required to obtain permits while filming on AZ soil?

That’s a very good question!   Should be required to hold forest permits just like anyone else that is using public land to make a profit.

They are supposed to have permits anytime filming on state or federal land.  I’m sure there is a varying level of adherence to the rules.

Is it only for those generating revenue?

Edit

Didn't know this was a thing. Who would regulate it?

I recently leased horses for a television production crew filming on BLM near Wickenburg.  BLM gave them permission to film and did not ask for a permit due to the low impact and small footprint of the activity.  They had a half dozen vehicles, a dozen crew members,  us and our animals, drones etc.

When the airing date approaches near, I may post again. Can't mention the show due to an NDA, but it's been on cable for years and seems pretty popular.

Lol, no but.im sure they're out there.

Me and a buddy played bandits in a recreation of a gold heist. We found these great sombreros at Goodwill ahead of the filming. The director wasn't thrilled, we had to wear hillbilly headgear .

It depends where they’re filming—public lands like national parks usually require a permit if the content is monetized. On private property, not so much. Always good to check with local agencies just to be safe.

I’m not sure what entity they had to get it from but Meateater filmed an episode of their waterfowl show on my place in ND a few years back and had to have some type of permitting, even for private.  Assuming from our state game and fish?

No.  That was down in SD.  It was Cal and that same guy Sean that was on that episode.  They aired it on you tube channel only.  They had a short run of a show called Ducklore or something like that that they did to try to tie into the waterfowl market.  I don’t think that guy lasted long and they only did the one season.  It was fun.  Nice guys for sure!
