oz31p Report post Posted Thursday at 02:46 PM The issue I had in 5b on the archery hunt was the bucks with does would be very receptive to a decoy and begin moving to me but a Doe would jail brake and the buck would circle her up and forget about me. bachelor herds would pay me no mind . a single buck would come but the wind was so swirly I’d get busted
HuntHarder Report post Posted Thursday at 03:27 PM Spot, stalk, repeat. I have had 19a archery 3x in the last 20 years. Each year, more access was removed due to new laws or housing encroachment. Simple hunt strategy. Literally, spot, stalk and if you blow it, get back in the pickup, cool off while looking for your next stalking opportunity. Wear snake gaiters, as there were snakes on all my hunts.

Viper Report post Posted Thursday at 05:36 PM My 72 yo buddy drew archery antelope last year in 4b. He made a decoy from 1/4" plywood. I teased him about it...but ended up carrying it for him, for miles. We had a blast. We were stalking bucks every day. Primarily this guy (pic). The first time we had an opportunity to deploy the "decoy", that buck left his 4 does and came running on a string, from 375 yrds, up the hill we were on. It surprised us when he appeared 80 yards away. My buddy couldn't get on him quick enough...and a bit out of his range. That buck wasn't fooled again after that.
