Recommended Posts

I miss the Halloween snows up here. But our biggest have always been after the 1st mainly in April. Last good one was 24" January 25th 5 yrs back. Lost a great friend(dog) 3 days later. Ready for another wet winter, if they elk like it or not but they do..

I remember my senior year in high school, Sunrise had a 180” base!  Ski tips would drag in a couple spots if you weren’t careful.   I remember complaining when lift tickets hit $18 a day…. Looking at lift prices now, how the heck can a  family afford to ski? Worse than a trip to  a Disney hosing. I quit after blowing out a knee, probably saved way more than the surgery cost after all these years..

A couple years ago the resorts had over 300” for the winter.
I buy day passes in July, when they are cheap. A $99 day pass lets us ski every Friday, or week day of our choice, for the entire season.  We stay with my sister who lives 45 minutes from flag.  We pack our own food. If we’ve had a good week, I’ll splurge for in-n-out for afterwards.
It can still be done on the cheap.

How does all the new moisture affect bark beetles? I was in Alpine last weekend and from there all the way to the canyon looked like $h!t with all the pines turning rusty. I'm assuming anyway its the beetles.

Once the tree is "rusty" it is pretty much done. During droughts the tree can't absorb enough moisture to produce sap.
