Where the heck are the bucks?! (36B)

Recommended Posts

Hunting 36B in the Arivaca Lake area, late Nov. Covering tons of country from Ruby Rd to the border. Hunting with a friend that has hunted the area for 30 years and knows all the places to hunt. We are glassing 30 to 40 deer a day...all does and fawns. We did get on a decent buck this morning, but gave us the slip. Border Patrol officer we spoke to said it's a weird year. Said his theory is, since illegal activity is way down, the bucks aren't getting pushed out of the canyons. Plenty of food and water so they stay put. Makes sense. Any experience...theories?

2700 tags for 10 straight years and 2 of the last 3 with bad fawn crops I would say has as much to do with it as anything.

Yep, seen a nice buck and two small bucks opening day but lost the big buck, haven’t seen any since other than two mule deer bucks, one real nice 4x4!

Headed back out with the daughter today

We're camped on Arivaca Lake rd. About a mile before the lake. 2 5th wheel toyhaulers.

I had the early hint and had the same difficulty. Headed down tomorrow to help my son for a couple days. Hopefully it turns out better

Been down in 36B since opening day and yes the same... lots and lots of does and so few bucks. A lot of shooting but I've only seen 2 3x3's worthy of shooting. They were running and we gone fast. My usual spots have been crowded, hopefully these next few days things change. Good luck to everyone!
