I just found this on MIDWAY USA on 5/05 and there were 9 in stock. they have 8 left if anyone is interested in a 6.5 PRC.

The one I just finished cleaning has the enlarged bolt handle not the small one that is always supplied with the mesa and ridgeline.

Also the stock is the solid dark black with the gray webbing. It not the one in the photo.

The action is slightly tight/firm but smooth right out of the box and after a though cleaning and the proper lube in the right place it feels even better. Both of the lugs on this sample have full contact.

There's no rail.

The rifle shoots under its guarantee after 17 rds of 147 ELDms, feeds/extracts, and ejects all fired or unfired cases perfectly.

I'm keeping this one.

I bought a used CA mesa last year, shoots amazing. Again I have heard rumors about them.

When they work, they shoot great. That’s for sure.

The actions are nice. Better than factory rem 700.  Stocks are nice and light and comfortable. Id expect the chamber to need to be reworked.  Either way still a good deal

My dad had one.  Stock split in half.  Cheap plastic.   I’ve seen guys rebarrel and restock them and have decent luck with them, but if you’re doing that you might as well spend $300 more and get a good quality built action.

I never had trouble getting my dads to group, it was just really inconsistent.  You could take it out and shoot a .75 MOA group and have it dead on, and then take it out a month or two later and it would be an inch low and a couple inches left.  I think it’s the cheap stocks and barrels reacting to temp and humidity but could be wrong.   My brother had one and it was the same way.

i’ve heard of issues with the carbon barrels mostly.   mine doesn’t have a carbon barrel and has the carbon fiber stock.  no issues

Their carbon barrels are garbage.

never understood all the hate on these rifles, the two I’ve shot have shot great, one has a carbon barrel, one has a steel barrel

If you look at a CA barrel through a bore scope you'll understand why the bad press on the rifle accuracy! The barrel interior finish is just one drawback aside from the barrel to action fit. Why some shoot and some don't and why it keeps accuracy smiths in business. Glad to see their prices have gone down obviously due to sales pressure from companies like HOWA who is now the leader in "out of the box accuracy". My humble opinion...

I remember as a kid going into Scheels and seeing a Christensen Arms “Carbon Cannon” for sale.  Had to have been in the mid 90’s.  I think back then they were a legit custom gun.  They were $2499 (a ton of money back then).   I remember thinking “man if I work my but off and get a good job, maybe someday I’ll have me one of those”.

Howa? That’s insane and never would have thought that, but good to know. For me it has been Tikka.

You gotta look at Tikka and Howa through a bore scope then decide. The rest is up to you.
