National Monument Designation??

Recommended Posts

So who is keeping eye on this grand canyon watershed monument deal??? Our local representatives are speaking out against it which is good. This could really affect hunting north and south of the big ditch? Some 1.7 million acres along the Colorado river is what is up in the air and the president has the authority to pen this one in as many other presidents have done in the past in other areas of the country.

(Quotes from news story)

Arizona has the most national monuments in the U.S. with 18.

“The real intentions of these shortsighted, self-interest groups are clear: They want this designation to prevent energy development, timber harvesting, grazing, mining and different types of recreation on this massive swath of land,” Gosar said in a statement last week on the proposed Grand Canyon watershed protection.

Gosar and Rep. Trent Franks, R-Glendale, were two of 25 representatives who wrote Obama last week asking him not to designate the watershed a national monument.

“Arizona is blessed with some of the most beautiful and unique landscapes on Earth,” the letter said. “For generations, Arizonans have enjoyed responsible, multiple-use recreation on these public lands, and have been active participants in conserving this amazing public resource.”

I wrote Mr Franks about 6 months ago about this. He did have a lemming respond and let me know that he is very much against this and on top of it.

If Obama learns these are our happy hunting grounds, he'll be bent on taking them away.

that's how we ended up with the Travel Mgmt Plan that is closing down all our dirt roads in NF, one stroke of Clinton's pen before he left office

The libatards have heard of the negotiations with the Park service concerning the Bison in the park and are trying to block hunting in the park to get the Bison out of the park. Obama wants to screw AZ so its probably a done deal. The next year will be a big one for sportsmen.

Feds have enough land. If they need more, take it from Mexico or Canada.

Pretty sure this is why that millita in orgon took over a FEDERAL "wild life" building. The federal government is always over reaching their power. The 10th amendment doesn't mean anything to the bastards-in Washington

First let's take back every acer of the "Indian" reservations and give the land back to the States.
