I asked this question before my mule deer hunt. I did hunt with my ar for 2 days when I was doing some still hunting. Think I picked up some federal premium 223 ammo like 65 grains or so.

Your Leupold will work just fine, i run a Vortex Diamondback 4-12-40, i can stretch to 600 yards. I will be switching to a Strike Eagle eventually.

Bushnell has a new series of AR scopes that are really nice and affordable. They are on sale at midway right now. I just bought several for my 223 & 308 AR.

I put the old leupold on it, it has some sentimental value and should work I think. I wish it had a differen reticle but whatever. it's 3x9 vari-x 2, anyone know if I can get turret for it? Or is too old, it's from 1997.

I love my Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 and my Razor HD 2 1-6 on my ARs. Im excited to see the new 1-8 that Burris is bringing out. Being illuminated, the 1 power, basically makes it a red dot, and with a Switchview on it, you can get up to 6 quickly, without moving your head.

On my AR's that I want for longer range, but not varmint calling, I have 3.5-10 or 2-10s. On my SBRs I have Aimpoint T1 Micros and Aimpoint PRO red dots. They mate with magnifiers but I'm not a fan. The 2moa dot, is a 6moa dot with the magnifier. Fine if you are shooting steel or Minute of Terrorist, but not precise enough for hunting.

The scope killed a desert bighorn. it's not an antique, it's seasoned lol

Touché. . None of my scopes have ever killed a desert bighorn so I guess I have no comeback.
