1979 International Scout II

Recommended Posts

I bought this in January with the intention to restore it. My plans changed.

It has the 345 v8 and automatic transmission. I have the soft top to go with it. Asking $4500. Located in East Mesa.

No, I didn't get it emissions tested because I was planning on a LS swap.

Does it run and all windows work, any leaks?

It runs, all windows work and it has a small drip from the oil pan.

That's a popular swap for that engine to get more power. IH actually blueprinted these engines before they left the factory and they have timing gears and not timing chains. IIRC the only other production engines to leave the factory with gears were the 327/375HP and the 396/425HP engines. The transmission is the Mopar 727 torqueflight and Dana 44's front and rear.

Not too many unmolested ones around anymore.

I've been told that by a few people.  I might do that later.  The trouble is I'm very nervous about Craigslist for a number of reasons, but I might find the courage somehow.  I'm not too desperate to sell, at least for another year or so.
