Do we really need a border wall?

Do we really need a wall?

  1. 1. With the shutdown going can't help but wonder what opinions are of the subject. A wall could work maybe but would a lot of Border Agents lose jobs? On a smaller scale you might still have to consider wildlife such as Jaguars. What do you guys think is the best approach?

    • Build a giant physical wall.

    • A high tech wall With more sensors, night vision cams and blimps similar to what we have in Sierra Vista, supported by more Border agents

    • Hire more Border Agents

This story has members of the community I grew up in!

New Mexico government officials selling out our border!!!

Along with Everify fire any government employee that allows taxpayer money to go to any non citizen! All the way up the line, mayors, senator, governors!

Enforce the law and quit being crybabies about it!

I'm kind with the "All three plus focus on those hiring illegals". At the same time, I really love the folks I've met up here who have come up, sometimes generations ago, legally and are amazing people who contribute greatly to our communities. In addition to "all of the above" I'd like to see a faster, cheaper track for those who are willing do immigrate here legally and want to work, and really assimilate.

There are folks here ranging from leeches to downright dangerous, but no one culture has a monopoly on that - I guess to summarize, I'm all for keeping out the dregs and freeloaders (even exporting some of our own if we could) while making the process better for the ones who are willing and able to contribute, as many are.

Coincidentally, I just came across this. There's a lot of good information coming directly from AZ law enforcement and what they are asking for.

Excellent quote from the link above.

"There are many places where physical barriers make sense and are in fact the best solution to securing the border. They should be constructed without delay. In other locations, we need to turn to technology, which thanks to modern advances is robust and effective. In other areas, we need more human resources to ensure security. Likely, in all locations we will need some blend of physical barriers, technology and human resources to be successful."

Coach, interesting story. About 10-15 years ago down here a big drywall company got busted for hiring illegals. Supposedly he had more then a couple warnings and ignored them. Then the place and jobs got raided. It was a pretty big deal, made national news and everything. As far as I know a staff manager got 5 years and the other main guy was still in trial looking at up to 10. To this day im pretty sure the owner never got any time whatsoever. Now he's one of the bigger custom home builders down here.  One of the guys I know that worked at his house said he had about half a million worth of toys in his garage. And since then got a new house built right up against the huachucas with nice deer To hunt right out his back yard. Talk about living the dream.

I also agree about trying to streamline the process for people to come here legally. If it were up to me they would need to learn English, MANDATORY.  I'm all for legal immigrants whom assimilate and try to be in our society.   I know it would probably never work but if they came and proved themselves by serving in our military for two terms I'd certainly be OK with them becoming citizens.  The obvious problem with that is which country would they really have loyalty too, and the other would be who are really possibly plants for the cartels. If they could weed out the bad guys I'd be for it.

We need a combination of both physical and technological barriers. It's common sense that the "left" has to agree with and possibly would if not hung up on the semantics calling it a "wall". But even more so the root cause of the immigration issue is our laws.....many that are outdated, and need renewal....and many that are just not enforced. The "left" has a good reason not to cooperate fixing the root cause. Illegal immigrants=democratic votes and socialistic behaviors which the "left" has recently come to favor as a party platform. That is why it will not be resolved like it should be....not until some politician can communicate a politically correct explanation of the issue better....... so that "common sense" can become part of the solution. Unfortunately common sense was eliminated about 10 years ago.

Common sense is politically incorrect terminology and should be treated as such 😂

Yes we need a wall and then they need to deport all that are here illegally. If they want to do the right thing to come back so be it. On a conspiracy note we have a invading foreign military aged force living among us. If every illegal alien living in the US took up arms against America we would have a real fight on our hands to control this country.

President Trump actually tweeted that video clip.......I was shocked!!!!! Maybe he actually knows where the heal the bootheel of New Mexico is now.......Obviously New Mexico Governor Grisham does not!!!

I worked side by side illegals as a kid! My dad had three very good men that would come and work for 3 months go home for a month and then come back! My dad paid for all of their dental and medical care!

Border Patrol would come by and check to see if they were there as they wanted them to stay in that area as opposed to going further north! This was late 60's early 70's!

Late 70's there started to be rifraff showing up on farms and ranches, illegals that would break into homes and steal from farmers and the Border Patrol had to start collecting and deporting workers! My dad helped one of the three illegals get citizenship and he continued to work for my dad and raise his family right there in Cotton City! Great people to work with and hard workers!

Times have changed...........in so many ways...........we have to be careful what bathroom we go in..........common sense has run its course and is pretty dam hard to find in almost any situation!

I'm glad I was born when I was born........feel really bad for my kids!!!!

You can tell watching the first 3 clips of Obama that he's not nearly as good a liar as the Clintons.  The first 2 he looks completely uncofortable and the third he looks down at his notes more then he looks up, like he's ashamed.
