Thought about HECS clothing

Recommended Posts

On that elk hunt I went on in September the person I was accompanying wanted us to wear that HECS clothing. I never experienced seeing how an elk or a deer reacted to it close enough to where it mattered, although I had some bunnies come in arms length to me while I was glassing. I would say your biggest thing is scent and movement.

So this person asking has real world experience with it? And you do too?

To be fair about all this. I’m pretty sure these are marketed mainly to eastern hunters (stand sitters) I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing everything possible to cover your scent when sitting.

I killed my buck in Kansas this year in Sitka gear and a Carhartt 6 pack ice cooler from a treestand. Drank beer and had deer all over. It’s all about scent control.

Why’d you have to get into a stand then?

I don’t necessarily know about real world experience, he just believed and thought it made sense when he saw it on tv. I haven’t had anything that I haven’t seen before before I had the HECS

So we're you wearing it?

Well like I said the guy who had the elk tag made us all wear it and that was the last time I’ve been able to get out where I would think HECS would make a difference. In January when I can hunt deer again I’ll wear mine and also report on how it goes.

I have a belief I stand by that more animals have been taken by individuals wearing plaid than all types of camo combined.
I have no empirical evidence to back up my claim.
I guess it makes me think of how my Grandad hunted and that makes me happy.

And I almost kicked a rabbit eating my alfalfa when I fed the ponies tonight and shocker, I am wearing plaid.

Coincidence.....I think not....

It’s really not a coincidence because I wear plaid almost everyday.

Did he kill a monster after forcing you guys to wear it?

Nope! Had a big bull at 47 yards that he shot too high on and we never found the bull or blood. But I don’t think that 47 yards was close enough for the suit to have done anything.

I have never personally used this camo but I would not immediately write it off like lots have.  I have buddies that SWEAR by Ozonics when they whitetail hunt in North Dakota.  These boys kill lots of animals and have lots of experience.  Up until a couple years ago, I was one of those guys that thought they were complete BS, but I have since, changed my opinion after using them and hearing stories about them.  Hopefully more guys come forward with actual experience and give their opinions.

If it really worked, there would also be Copperfit camo, and Walmart would have their own discount line too.  No scientific evidence, just some dude makin stuff up, and a couple close encounter videos as his evidence.  Notice he is the only one pushing it.  When good ideas work everyone joins in for a piece of the profits. Take Rage broadheads for example.  You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Rage knockoff somewhere.

Never used Ozonics and never had to. Hunt Kansas every year and like I said it’s all about wind setup. You can have a deer down wind with ozonics and you will get busted. Don’t let those tv shows fool you.
