The commission is who started this, the AZGFD answers to the commission and when the commission wants something done the department will usually move heaven and earth to meet their wishes.

You're right. I forgot that it was the commission pushing this to begin with.

The game and fish cannot ban trail cameras. They can only make a rule that they cannot be used for hunting. They cannot even make you remove them from water unless they can prove you are using them for taking or aiding in taking wildlife.

  • Prohibit the use of trail cameras for the purpose of taking or aiding in the take of wildlife within ¼ mile of a developed water source.
  • Allow the use of trail cameras to aid in the take of wildlife from February 1 through June 30 as long as the camera is not placed within ¼ mile of a developed water source.

You are correct and they can’t stop you from feeding wildlife but I would say they pretty effectively shut done baiting.

Plenty of hunters that will enforce it while in the field.

There is an ACTUAL law against feeding wildlife.

13-2927. Unlawful feeding of wildlife; classification

A. A person commits unlawful feeding of wildlife by intentionally, knowingly or recklessly feeding, attracting or otherwise enticing wildlife into an area

Removing cameras. You can act all you want that you're not putting them up to look for animals to hunt but the majority of people in the field will disagree. Especially if they refrained from putting up cameras to obey the law.

Removing cameras

You mean stealing?

Using a camera will not be against the law.

It is a STATE LAW.

FYI - AZGFD cannot make a law.

The entire statute:

A. A person commits unlawful feeding of wildlife by intentionally, knowingly or recklessly feeding, attracting or otherwise enticing wildlife into an area, except for:

1. Persons lawfully taking or holding wildlife pursuant to title 17   1 or pursuant to rules or orders of the Arizona game and fish commission.

2. Public employees or authorized agents acting within the scope of their authority for public safety or for wildlife management purposes.

3. Normal agricultural or livestock operational practices.

4. Tree squirrels or birds.

B. This section applies in a county with a population of more than two hundred eighty thousand persons.

C. Unlawful feeding of wildlife is a petty offense.

The point being is that it is an actual LAW, not an AZGFD rule.
