StarLink Mini

Recommended Posts

A buddy of mine just put one on his RZR. So far, he said it's OK. I've had on and off success with the stationary one if there any trees slightly in the way.

I have the regular starlink and love it in camp. Been contemplating on switching to a mini but wish the speeds were the same as the full size. I keep hoping they will correct that then i will jump over

I have a mini at my well house to run a security cam. I will take it hunting this fall, So far I've been very happy with it. Easy to set up and use with decent speeds

Seen any good deals on the Mini's anywhere? All I have heard is good things for the few I know that have one.

They had the mini advertised for $100 off and $100 credit when activated but I think that ended yesterday.

So other then size whats the main difference from the mini? I assume the full size one uses more power as well??

Never mind here it is. Starlink comparison

I have both.

we have the full size on a little house in aravaipa. works great.  you CAN use the full size in different places but not while traveling.  Needs an inverter to run from 12v.   you can also do the lower price roam plan on the full size, but you have to contact them to switch. there is no option for that when you purchase it.

the mini is great too.  speeds are slower but you can use it while being mobile. Also can be powered by 12v without a converter.  we have never had an issue with the speeds with multiple people using it.

we have the 50g plan on both(cannot share between the two)  and have never gone over. it is not our full time internet though.  we use less than 10g a weekend with kids movies and internet browsing/work.

I have the full size - and love it, they both work the same.  I camped in the trees last week and had some obstructions but bought a longer cord and it worked out.  At one time I had 27 devices connected and most kids and adults where on their phones, last week used 350 gigs of data since everyone was on it (I have unlimited).  the days of telling stories are over, fact checking is easy LOL. People watched Netflix at night.

Enabling wifi calling on phone allows phone calls anytime when in reach of the starlink router.

I believe the mini uses less power - so that is a good thing - I have a Ecoflow battery pack 300W that give Starlink about 3 hrs of use before needing charge- the Ecoflow charges quickly (30 mins), I have a solar panel (100 W) and when the sun is out it keeps the Ecoflow charged. - Starlink pulls about 60 watts. My toyhauler has 2 deep cycle batteries and don't have an inverter and probably won't- bought a small gas generator for that can run for 10 hrs on 0.8 gallons of gas vs the on board Onan.  If I had to do over, I would have bought a 600W or bigger Ecoflow.

Get the roam plan and you can pause it when not needed and you don't get de prioritized.
