aftermarket triggers??

Recommended Posts

What do you prefer? Gonna replace one in older post 64 Winchester Model 70. Have a Timney in a newer M70 gun and it seems good but I think it could break alittle more crisp but maybe I'm being overly picky, I like the glass breaking snap of a trigger regardless of what the LBS are. I see Rifle Basix, JARD, and Timney all offer a drop in for my gun.

I put a Rifle Basix in a Savage Axis. Not bad for a $100 trigger. Has a micro millimeter of creep. I have a Timney in my 700 that I like better. With trigger I would think you get what you pay for and can live with.

Shooting from the bench is one thing. Hunting situations when you have seconds to get off a shot may dictate an entirely different situation. Either way nothing can beat more "trigger time".

I wonder if the reason for the rifle basix triggers being cheaper is the more simple construction not necessarily the quality. I was just curious if others preferred one over another as I only have a Timney to compare

Rifle Basix triggers are very good and great value for the price. Simple fix for getting that crisp clean break is getting a tighter fit on the trigger pins that hold the trigger on the action. A few adjustments on the sear engagement and over travel screws can also help. Timney as well as Rifle Basix offer great after the sale service. Don't hesitate to contact them for help with adjustments or fitting of a trigger.

Timney is an AZ company, so I try and support them the most.

If you are around north phoenix you can walk into there headquarters and buy them if needed.

I have 2 mod 70s with rifle basix, one a pre and one a post 64. They are very crisp   Not sure they are better than my timneys  but less $$

Sometimes replacing the spring is all it takes to achieve the trigger you desire.

I have some Timney triggers in a few rifles and one Jewell (holy cow it's nice), but in several others I put a $7 spring (looks like they are $10 now..) from this guy in AZ and I'm happy with the results in one pre64 model 70 and a few Remington 700s.

Replaced springs on a Ruger GP100. Huge difference, so yeah, that's all it takes sometimes. Probably my favorite firearm
