Advice for good packs for youth

Recommended Posts

My son is 12 years old and loves going hunting with me . I want to get him a pack that fits him , that isn’t a camel pack . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Consider getting a mystery ranch non hunting pack. Basically the same set ups but you can still detach the bag and haul out and elk quarter easily.  And he will be able to grow into it.

Do you think it will tighten down enough around his waist.

Great pic…

mystery ranch pop up is a great pack. It’s what my 16 year old has, got it for him at 14. Will work for any day trips and will haul elk with the best of them when that day comes

they make different sized waist straps

My MR pop up fits my 11yo great. He is 5'4 and about 140lbs. They are great packs!

My boys both use women's Kuiu packs.  Picked them up cheap on the used market.  The smaller frames and hip belts fit them great.  Both boys had packed out a handful of front elk quarters and deer and pig.  They are 13 and 11 now and each understand the value of having a pack with a good frame.  When they were really little they had a cheap Amazon camo pack.  They loved those packs.  Carried more snacks than anything else.
