NOTAGS Report post Posted Sunday at 11:31 PM I’ve had dogs my whole life, other when I was in college. Usually had two, I guess so they can keep each other company… sometimes it’s two too many. Had labs for almost 35 years, but threw in a Heeler due to their longevity, he’s 6-7, and bat crap crazy still after 6 years. Super loyal, way too smart. Came from the pound, had been beaten badly , took a long time to restore trust with the dog. Now he’s a little too protective of his people , but it keeps the relatives from wanting to stay over.

Swivelhead Report post Posted Monday at 02:04 AM What ever breed you end up with, suspect it'll be sleeping on your bed in no time. Never had a cow dog but know they are super smart. Bred to be aggressive, biting (cows) is what they do. Socializing is likely a necessity.

They have two coats, and they both grow like weeds. I’ve had labs, both long and short hair, and they shed. Normal amounts. I’m surprised the Navajos didn’t start raising Heelers for their fur instead of sheep.. ACDs start shedding, they look like they’ve got the mange… patches and tufts. Great dogs, but, if hairs a dealbreaker, get something ending in Oodle,, or an Airedale or a Welsh terrier. I’m told they don’t shed . But never owned one so don’t quote me. NOTAGS Report post Posted Monday at 02:29 AM The Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) is a hardy, intelligent, and energetic herding breed developed in Australia for droving cattle, known for its loyalty, stamina, and problem-solving skills, often called Blue or Red Heelers due to their coat colors. They are compact, muscular dogs with a short, dense double coat that comes in blue or red speckled patterns, and they require significant exercise and mental stimulation to prevent destructive FYI….busy little shites is what it boils down to

dutchmanazA1 Report post Posted yesterday at 03:45 AM Don't discount a standard poodle. Very athletic and loyal, and a royal pain in the butt for the first 2 years. Much too smart for their own good. BUT - this breed wants to be WITH you. Not something you can turn out in the backyard all day and expect a good experience.
couesbuck22 Report post Posted yesterday at 05:28 AM Do it…when mine was a pup he got his teeth kicked out by my horse and broke his jaw that wasn’t cheap but after awhile he got to where he could eat dry food. Hasn’t been on the wet food since. 11 years old now still runs circles around me shed hunting. Best dog I could ask for with my 2 year old also. My kid can jump on him pull his ears “tickle” him and the dog just playfully nips at him. Dog sleeps next to my kids bed now every night. We’ll be sitting on the front porch watching my boy play if a car drives by and he’ll start growling and walk to the sidewalk til he can’t see it. (Not that he has teeth to really make it hurt if he bit someone) But like others said they are somewhat high energy, mines pretty dang lazy now we don’t hike near the miles we used to in the woods but pretty dang good dog around the house.
