I think it's time for a new dog

Recommended Posts

I’ve had dogs my whole life, other when I was in college. Usually had two, I guess so they can keep each other company… sometimes it’s two too many. Had labs for almost 35 years, but threw in a Heeler due to their longevity, he’s  6-7, and bat crap crazy still after  6 years. Super loyal, way too smart. Came from the pound, had been beaten badly , took a long time to restore trust with the dog. Now he’s a little too protective of his people ,  but it keeps the relatives from wanting to stay over.

A friends daughter has a French Bulldog that is a few years old. Loves to play fetch and is super friendly.

I love frenchies but breeders charge a fortune for them.

What ever breed you end up with, suspect it'll be sleeping on your bed in no time.

Never had a cow dog but know they are super smart.   Bred to be aggressive, biting (cows) is what they do.  Socializing is likely a necessity.

They shed like crazy! They have two coats, and they both grow like weeds.  I’ve had labs,  both long and short hair, and they shed. Normal amounts. I’m surprised the Navajos didn’t start raising  Heelers for their fur instead of sheep..  ACDs start shedding, they look like they’ve got  the mange… patches and tufts.  Great dogs, but, if hairs a dealbreaker, get something ending in Oodle,, or an Airedale  or a Welsh terrier. I’m told they don’t shed . But never owned one so don’t quote me.

The Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) is a hardy, intelligent, and energetic herding breed developed in Australia for droving cattle, known for its loyalty, stamina, and problem-solving skills, often called Blue or Red Heelers due to their coat colors. They are compact, muscular dogs with a short, dense double coat that comes in blue or red speckled patterns, and they require significant exercise and mental stimulation to prevent destructive
