New generation on the way

Recommended Posts

So much grass this year, it's hard to see them but the woods are full of the little buggers.

Very cool to see them, thanks for sharing the pics. Is this your neck of the woods, unit 27?

In unit 1 one time with the Family we saw a hen with 18 little guys run out in front of us. I hear that not to many do make it. Maybee 30%. High grass this year ought to help.........BOB!

Up here in the prairie they say it takes 10% nest success to keep a stable pheasant population. In some of the heavy predated areas they only get 1-2%. It just blows my mind that with the little ground cover down there in the pines they can even get off a hatch let alone run those little buggers around for 2 months until they can fly with all the hawks, owls, bobcats, coyotes, fox, and lions running around out there!! Amazing!

if they make it past the first week the chances for survival are a lot better
