Noah fills his tag!

Recommended Posts

Noah drew the 6A Jr's cow elk tag this year. We didn't think he was going to make the hunt after he separated his left shoulder at his high school football practice. He had a significant labrum tear that required surgery. The 2-hour procedure left him with eight anchors in his shoulder socket tying his labrum back into position. 5-weeks after the surgery Noah's left arm was still in a pillow sling. All he talked about was being able to go out on this hunt. We did a couple practice hikes up in the Rincon Mountains and he practiced quite a bit shooting his .308 with a tall bipod that would let him sit and shoot. Friday morning Noah and his younger brother Jacob and I started to hike out from our camp at 4:00 a.m. We made it about two-miles from the road and we were surrounded by bugling bulls. We had to wait awhile for the sun to come up and then we started to move toward one of the bulls, hoping he'd have some cows with him. About 30-minutes later we found a cow on the edge of a meadow grazing. We closed to 180-yards when Noah set his rifle up on the bipod and took the shot. One shot did the trick and Noah had his second cow elk tag filled! Thanks to our friends in Flagstaff with the help packing the meat out to the truck.
