Duwane Adams ?

My neighbor killed a 3a buck that he claims is 230 a dozen years ago.  I’ve seen the buck, I’m not sure it’s 230 but it might be.  It’s super trashy.  Probably has 20 scorable points.  I could not draw the late hunt for 3a3c with my 15 points.

Sorry, Life can be a challenge at times....      Archery elk in 23  had it happen 2 times.  Then Archery Deer on Kaibab.  Funny thing was the year before I had killed a nice buck.  Two people came by my camp and saw it, while I was butchering.  I didn't think anything of it.  The next year I literally had people follow me to my parking spots.  I would come back to the truck at night to find 3 or more quads parked near me.  Then I started leaving earlier in the morning.  Got to my parking spot to have someone in the dark telling me they had a hunter in this draw or that flat.  Come back to my truck at night and be confronted by idiots.

From his FB page:

We just got back from an amazing elk camp up north. I got to spend time with my great friends, grandchildren, clients, and guides. I am sure most of you know by now or will soon my recent verdict with the AZ Game and Fish Dept. Quite honestly we have been in an uphill battle with them since the moment I started my guiding career and this one was no different. I have talked to so many outfitters and guides through the years who have been on the winning & the losing side of this coin and at the end of the day it doesnt change. I have received multiple phone calls from great friends upset about people commenting, people happy about it, or people sharing it online. Honestly it's expected. I have been guiding and doing this for 47 years. These stories whether good or bad always have a version. Mine, theirs, and the truth. My entire hunting career I have had plenty of people that liked me and plenty of people that didn’t. That’s life. You could kill the biggest buck there was and there would be a person who had something negative to say. That won’t change today based on any of it. I have always shared with my kids that you will learn who your true friends are during tough times. Luckily for me I learned that many times over the years and fortunately those people are still around . This has been a wonderful career and business. We have harvested some amazing animals through the years and have more hunting stories than I can share and plenty more to make. I haven’t actually hunted myself in over 30 years. My son in law Nick DeBaca now owns our business and they are doing a wonderful job and I will be outfitting for them... so not much has changed there. l will still be in every hunting camp doing what I love most... Being around outdoorsman and raising up more hunters. On a different note I have a lot of knowledge on areas throughout Arizona & will be giving that away for free so although I won’t be guiding myself I will be sharing it all with people we will still be offering glassing lessons as well. So please give me a call if you have questions about anything. At 67 years old my last years will be spent hunting with my kids and grandchildren I have truly enjoyed taking people from around the world and teaching people things that were learned and passed down to me. I appreciate every single one of you who has reached out in support or has been there through the years. I hope you all make as many memories in the outdoors with the people that matter the most as we have and will continue to do. God Bless you all.

Duwane is a very kind man, and also a gentleman. God bless him and the continuation of his guiding business under his son- in law. I have a lot of respect for Duwane and everything he has done for the hunting community.

Revoction hearing for Nicholas Debaca - 2025-0044 Possession of Unlawfully Taken White-Tailed Deer

https://www.azgfd.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/January-16-2026-Commission-Agenda.pdf

St. Duwayne Adams, his son- in law, Nicholas Debaca and another guide were assisting a rifle Coues tag holder that admitted to

shooting a Coues deer from a dirt road, in their presence. The hunter cut a deal with the court and implicated the guides.

The court found Mr. Debaca guilty of possessing the unlawfully taken deer, because it was located it in his vehicle and today, the commission

imposed a hefty fine on him, revoked his hunting license for 5 years, and ordered him to take the hunter-ed course.

You’ve never shot a deer from a road? Never? Not once?

Let me think, ...nope, not once. I actually enjoy the challenge of hunting. If I don't fill a tag, I consider it a win for the species and use the defeat as motivation to become a better hunter. Cheating would only hinder my progress.

I'm fairly new to hunting. I only started back in 2020 when my oldest son was 9. We read the regulations front to back, several times before he and I took our Hunter Education classes/tests. I keep a current copy of each regulations book in my truck and my sons and I all carry copies in our backpacks too. The rules regarding hunting from, across or into a road/railway are easy to understand.

There are so many things that can be learned and practiced while hunting. One of the most important to me personally is ethics, as I have become a youth hunting mentor to my sons and many of their friends. During youth hunts, I've been known to assist other parents who I've just met to fill their youth's tags, after my son's tags were filled. Some might say I'm a glutton for punishment. But as a homeschooling parent, I get a real sense of accomplishment from teaching our youth. And what would I be teaching them by doing something the unethical way?

My 15-year-old son has shown an interest in guiding as a potential career opportunity, so these threads/cases are especially intriguing to me.

Wow.  I’ve shot a pile of critters from a road.  Musta been county maintained or something?  I’d have to brush up on my AZ regs again I guess!  We can legally shoot from the road here in ND.  Seems like a petty offense to take away a license for 5 years?!?

But the thing is it wasn't him, it was the Hunter. And since the hunter shot it with a foot on the road that made the deer illegal. So once it became illegal, transporting it for the hunter to the taxidermist was illegal because it was unlawfully taken. Am I missing something because that sounds like horse shoot to me?

Also, I am confused why he dropped his appeal. I dont think that was a good move.
