On a lighter note,,,,,. Whose ready for Dove?

Recommended Posts

Cough up dem spots. Opening day every swinging dick and his brother will be off work so it will be crowded. I'm still shooting $2 a box Federals I bought at Wall World 4 or so years ago on clearance. A CWT GTG Shoot would be fun. The dairies we were fortunate to be able to shoot at for a few years are now houses. Talk about epic. I'm glad I didn't have to clean the 100 Eurasions we goated one CWT Member into shooting with his new gun.

Dove opener never fails to remind me how wildly inconsiderate people are, but I’m sure we’ll be out there. Hard to break tradition.

On a lighter note I'm ready with my super light 12 ga. 1 oz. 7 1/2 loads at 1400 fps. They are deadly at any range! Fun stuff! Shooting north Tucson area water holes.

I know I'm looking forward to it. I just need to find a modified choke for my BPS.

We were lucky enough to get invited back to Yuma on a private farm. Last year was my son's first time and he had a blast. I can't wait for the 110deg heat and watching the boy burn through 100's of shells!

I've always loathed dove hunting, had some pretty close calls as a kid. I feel like the opener brings out the absolute least ethical and least safe Hunters on the planet. However since I got a dog that loves to chase Birds I always find myself out there.

Not for me. Got peppered the last time I went 20+ years ago. I've made it further in life than I thought I would. I have no intention of being taken out by an amateur. Same applies to local gun ranges.

Have always got a big kick out of dove hunting.

The old days growing-up were stock tanks out by Florence Junction.  Used to be tons of fun, but that was many years ago before population skyrocketed in the east valley. ;)   In more recent years, I'm fortunate to have made a good friend/contact years ago who owns dairies, and we'll be back out at one of them again this year.  Blessed to have that hunting opportunity.

Good luck to all!

I like late season.  I'm usually out chasing quail and find some areas holding dove.  Never enough to limit, but add a mix to the bag.  Plus,  I'm not filling my boots with sweat.  Throw in the usual mosquitoes I find near water on the early hunts, sweaty and itchy....

If you can get out early in the morning at sunrise to scout that helps a lot.

Grew up hunting around those dirt tanks as well in the late 70s and 80s. Quail, dove, javelina and archery deer. Before the national guard used those areas, it was always good hunting. Long drive through town before the freeways were built.
