Coach Report post Posted 13 hours ago I'm just wondering what grill you guys are using and what works. I have a Green Mountain and ruined a couple great pieces of meat because it's gauges are so far off. I just turned it up to 200 with 2 oven thermometers they, and a Meater thermometer were both reading over 300 degrees. Camp Chef, Treager, Pit Boss? What's working for you guys? Couzer Report post Posted 13 hours ago I bought a Yoder YS640 years ago and still working like a champ. Price is steep, but I probably would have gone through 3-4 treagers by now if I went that route.
n2horns Report post Posted 12 hours ago I use a Camp Chef Smoker but use thermpro external/bluetooth thermometer.
CatfishKev Report post Posted 12 hours ago I got a camp chef smokepro dlx after much research on forums. Didn't like the gotta suck the ash out feature of traeger. As mentioned above yoder is the Cadillac of smokers but imo unnecessary although still top notch.

dcshorthairs Report post Posted 10 hours ago Don’t buy anything but a Yoder.

az41mag Report post Posted 9 hours ago I have an older Traeger (maybe 9 years old now), it's been decent but I've also had to replace pretty much every electrical component on it over the years; fans, auger motors, hot rod, controller, etc.. It's been relatively easy to work on and the replacement parts are cheap. Not sure if the Traeger's are built any better now or not. When it finally gives up the ghost, I'll probably replace it with a Yoder as they seem to be built out of much heavier steel.

NOTAGS Report post Posted 9 hours ago Recteq… their temp controls and construction beat everyone except Yoder. Yoder’s the bomb, but super heavy and expensive. Recteq has a cast iron heat exchanger, which holds temp solid. Check them out .

I still don't even think you need to spend that much for good smoked meat. But still, aesthetics and all that's a dope grill and I'm sure it works great. NOTAGS Report post Posted 8 hours ago The overall weight of the drum, lid etc. holds the heat, plus the temp stays nailed. If you’re into long smokes, slow cooks, you’ll appreciate that. The price delta between them and Traeger is not much. If you’re just into eating, buy a Charbroil and save even more …to each their own
Hoss50 Report post Posted 5 hours ago We have a Traeger that we have used for at least 6 years. Really enjoy it, but it could also be better. We almost bought a Yoder but they are not cheap. When the traeger dies though, the modern will be back at the front of the line.
