I am working reviving a Kimber 6.5x55 sporterized mauser right now for my backup rifle. I picked up a new Redfield scope today and some Leupold rings. I also picked up some Hornady SSTs to run through it.

This will probably also be my son's first deer rifle so I wanted to start working up the accuracy and quality of the rifle and working up a load. He is only 3.5 yrs old so I hope I have enough time to get it dialed in....

Well, I think it's time to upgrade.

I was lucky on the Elk Draw, and now I'm planning my first ever Elk hunt. I'm going to be using a 7400 Remington 30-06, and I need to get a scope for it. I'd like it to be at least able to hit 500 yards. Im thinking of a Viper BDC system- something under a grand that's reliable and has a great warranty. I have no experience with Vipers but I hear great things. Anyone use a Viper BDC on a '06?

Remington 700 7mm RM 162 gr A-MAX IMR 4831 2800 FPS under half MOA @ 100. It sits in an outdoorsmans chassis. Just had a muzzle break installed. I got drawn for the late Nov hunt in 4A, will be using my 2013 PSE DNA shooting Black Eagle Rampages with grave diggers.

Last year my .257 weatherby served me well and may still get the nod to go on the hunt this year, but I am going to start load development on a new rifle too.

I am going to get my dad's first rifle, a Ruger M77 in 7mm Rem Mag, to hopefully make it this years elk killer. I picked up some 168gr. Berger HVLD's that I am going to load up and hopefully get to shoot well. It would be nice to put an elk down with Dad's rifle. He only ever put a couple deer down with this one.
