2nd Amendment rally

Recommended Posts

Still a Rally in AZ... Just don't think a bunch of like minded folks getting together on TV will help. Imagine the media there - the story is twisted and the focus is on the sidearms in the crowd. Enter Giffords stage left and we have provided a photo opp for the left. Nothing we do will be portayed by the liberal media in any way that will help. Not saying do nothing. Just know thy enemy and don't play into their hand.

I want to be out there with the "Don't Tread On Me" flag singing Yankee Doodle Dandy as much as the next guy but we are out numbered by the 47% that voted for O'Bama. Not AZ mind you - we seem to have it right. But we need to understand that there are 49 other states and they can and might impress their will uopn us. Why fan the flames. Careful, thought out action is the answer. Emotion is the card they want to play not us.

JMHO and appreciate yours.

Eric

Are you kidding me? You are "worried" about what the Obama Zombies will say? What is wrong with you? You have the RIGHT every day to walk around with your gun. The media is sure to twist it. So what? When the Redcoats come to take your cache are you gonna refuse to get involved because someone might call you a bad name? Put up or shut up. This is the 2nd Amendment and we should all mean business if it is important to you.

INACTION is the card they want you to play. The 2nd Amendment is the card I WILL PLAY. I do not care if they like it or not. These rallys will be going on ALL OVER THE COUNTRY! We need to stand UNIFIED like the colonists did against the British when they tried to take their guns.

savagman, I respectfully disagree. If ever there was a time to stand up and show your face, the time is now. Don't show up armed or acting like a vigilante, just make your presence known.

Look at the broad picture here. Weeks ago, something aweful happened. Something you or I could not prevent, and all we can do is try to understand, then look at how this isolated incident is being used. More "kids" in Chicago die in a normal weekend than died at Sandy Hook. More kids have died from the flu in the last 8 weeks, than at Sandy Hook.

More kids die in pool drownings and bee stings annually than Sandy Hook. Why, then does this single event attempt to change minds?

You can't believe what you are told, and you owe it to your family to look past the hyperbole. The truth is right before your eyes, my friend.

I want to know why no one is talking about the fact that almost every mass shooting we have had in the last 20+ years, the shooter has been on at least one anti-depressant medication. Some of them have been on multiple ones at the same time, prescribed by Dr's. If you listen to the commercials for these meds, they tell you that thoughts or acts of suicide are a possible side effect.

No calls for banning Prozac or limiting the number of pills per prescription.

It is legal to kill this baby in all 50 states. No reason needed. Just pay the fee and it dies. And the liberals will tell you that the so called right can NOT be infringed upon. They can't tell you where this right is located in the Constitution but you cannot question it.

The 2nd Amendment is clearly written in our bill of rights. It was so important, that it is the only article in the Bill of Rights that gives warning to the politicians that the right will not be infringed upon. No other right, including the right to free speech, is given this extra emphasis.

So, we have killed over 40,000,000 babies since Roe V Wade ON PURPOSE and the mother is somehow supposed to be the victim in that crime.

A nut uses a gun to kill kids and I am supposed to give up my freedoms so bed wetting, hand ringing, mouth breathers can somehow feel safe?

Roberts is the only one that I haven't heard about being on drugs of some kind.

elkaholic, everything you posted is true. But I disagree with your premise that the drugs were the cause. In every single instance you posted, there is a mentally ill person. They wouldn't have been on these medications if they weren't diagnosed as mentally ill.

These are the cases where every attempt had been made. The person at risk was properly diagnosed, the medication was made available.

I'm not saying this to be combative or call you out in any way.

I live in a home where ADHD, certain medications, in a way dictate our life. I could easily be one of those parents stabbed to death or beaten with a baseball bat in my sleep. It's one thing to recognize that all of these episodes occurred by people under the various medications you described. You could easily draw a correlation between the meds and the subsequent behavior.

In reality, it isn't that simple. Every case you cited was a mentally instable person harming someone else. The fact that they were prescribed anti-depressants and other drugs didn't cause them to act out, IMO. In every scenario you laid out, there is a mentally ill person who has been identified as a threat (pre-requisite to the drugs they are on) and was failed to be treated properly.

I don't want to get too far off on a tangent here, but the way things really work is this. If you are hurt, you can go to the emergency room. If you have insurance, you'll pay a co-pay, then get treated.

If you are mentally ill, even if your or your parents have "top tier" insurance, you won't be seen. The kinds of places that handle mental illness are NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. They can cost 40-50K per 4 week evaluation.

There's a huge gap in our medical "industry" at this point. Obama-care doesn't bridge it either, despite the costs. Mental illness is not even considered in your typical "paid-by-employer" package, and Obama care doesn't solve it either.

Bottom line is this - we have an entire generation of mentally instable people, dependent on medication to make them feel "normal". Each and every one of them is a tinder box ready to explode.

ADD, ADHD, ETC...is all a bunch of BS. It is also well known that the medications given for these so called "illnesses" cause major problems later in life. Kids are and always have been mentally unstable, thats the point of being a kid. Kids dont need medication to try to act like an adult because people are tired and dont want to deal with their kids being kids. I hate it when I see a kid having fun and being wild and hyper and their parents say go take a pill and calm down. Why????????

Joe - You and I have agreed on many points in the past and I would hesitate to call you out but what you just stated is a gross generalization that is incredibly off base and insensitive. I am surprised that you would make such a statement when Coach clearly just stated that this is a problem his family struggles with. Mental illness is real, and its a HUGE problem. There is a definable difference between a kid who is active, energetic, hyper, etc and a person (of any age) who is diagnosed with a mental illness. I agree that some doctors likely over-diagnose and that the medications can have powerful side-effects but that doesn't disprove the problem it compounds it.

I'd say that only in the last half century that there have been more advances made in diagnosis and treatment for ADHD, Bipolar and a myriad of others. These ailments aren't imagined and treatments vary from case to case. I venture to surmise that people like Van Gogh and Hemingway may have had different lives had they lived in later times.

Pharmaceuticals, in addition to observing behaviors again case by case, and building on what modern medicine and phsychriatric's have taught us is where we are now but there is a long way to go, IMHO.

Add the complexities of todays society it really adds another element to the equation. There are side effects no doubt to most meds but we can't lock family away in rubber rooms or turn our backs on folks with PTSD.
