leftover deer tags gone

Recommended Posts

I would be willing to guarantee there will always be leftovers. I'm sure if there aren't the Game and Fish Department will just bump up the amount of tags to guarantee that there are leftovers!

I think the tags track the Dow. LOL. I've seen them diminish faster and demand grow every year for about 5 years. It seemed like when the economy was in bad shape you could just go to an AZGFD office and pick up one for any unit you wanted. Now, you've gotta move fast if you want one.

Please explain to me how the department is making money off of leftover tags, my guess is they are losing money.

They batch their check deposits by hunt number. The higher your hut number the longer it will take to see your check cashed. The first batch went out on Tuesday. It included my FIL's check for hunt #1089. As of yesterday afternoon they were up to the low 1100's. They expected to have all deposits in by COB tomorrow.

That's interesting info, how did you find that out?

Checking account that the leftover fees were paid on was compromised after the fact. They explained the process to me so I could make sure that certain check numbers weren't cancelled too early. Wells Fargo won't leave single checks open if they know a whole book is missing, even if you can give them check numbers. Luckily my FIL drew the 24a leftover, which has a lower hunt number and was in the first batch sent through, so I didn't have to wait quite as long for the check to clear.

Trying to get through to someone to discuss my problem was a real pain the butt with every nervous Nellie calling minutes after the leftover process began to find out if they were drawn. The gatekeepers were completely fed up with all the pointless phone calls coming in.

They only take the $13 on the leftover if you receive a tag. Otherwise they send the check back to you un-cashed.

I think more guys are willing to hunt by the border now just cause they wanna hunt. Even with the problems there. I picked up a leftover and hunted on the border 4 years ago and would go again. Hence they are going faster.. From what I hear the economy isn't much better. Guys are hearing there is some Quallity animals down there too. just My OP...........BOB!
