Deadline EXTENDED

Recommended Posts

Geez guys. Get over it. It happened. Its done. It will continue to happen. This same bitchfest happens every single draw cycle. Nothing has changed and it appears it won't change. You guys sit here and get pissed off over something you have no control over, bashing each other for what? Because people apply last minute? Wow.

The draw is gonna happen. People will get drawn. People won't get drawn. The cycle will continue. Get over it. Sucks reading everyone getting pissed off at everyone over something like this.

The North Koreans hacked it!

DAAAAAAVE!

Do you ever feel

Like a plastic bag

Drifting through the wind

Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel

Feel so paper-thin

Like a house of cards

One blow from caving in

How about this; Open up the on-line draw and give no deadline. just tell everyone that it will be shut down sometime in the next 3 weeks, better get in early. LOL

Are you kidding me...the ACLU would be on that like white on rice. Do realize all the people that would be offended ? Do you realize all the people who would sue the AZG&F over this after missing the draw and now are suing for an early rifle 23,9,1 tag with high powered lawyer teams ? Not to mention the AZG&F dept. getting sued and shut down ? Other than that I think it's a great idea.

This has happened before in other states. I remember New Mexico and Oregon a few years back. There's another state too, but the name escapes me. It appears they've since fixed the issues.

I'm not defending the department, but this isn't unique to Arizona. The common theme from the above links: apply early.

I guess I just haven't been hunting long enough as most of you, but I don't really see a big problem with the extension. Yes people should have applied weeks ago. But then again, those that waited last minute has their reason (laziness, financial, priorities, unsure of schedule). Whatever it may be it's none of my business. The system should be able to handle the load but it didn't. It's cost benefit analysis thing for the department to make. Is it worth the money to be able to handle the load each year? Or is it worth it to make the late applicants happy and allow them another 24 hours to apply when the system crashes AND piss off the people who apply early knowing that it will not affect next year's #s because the early birds will be back regardless? Either case, the draw will happen and we all will know if we get to hunt or not. Maybe next year, they'll have 8 servers instead of 4.

I blame my wife for me not caring about being late. I am one of those that always show up early. She's one that shows up when she gets there (mostly late). I've learned to live with it because it wasn't worth getting mad everytime she's late or causes me to be late. Some day, maybe, we all can just live with it or the system will catch up and be able to handle the load.

Wish you all good luck on the draw.

It's been a while since I was in the IT world but......

It's pretty obvious they don't have the equipment to handle the surge every draw cycle. If they did it would sit idle most of the year expect the two main draws. The equipment would be outdated every other cycle any way.

So why try to do the draw inhouse? I bet there's no less than 100 IT firms in state that could handle a draw cycle incident free and cheaper.

Not entirely sure how the application part works but would be smart to use elastic computing since like you said. It's pretty much idle most of the year and takes a huge hit during the draw and results. If they aren't using an elastic cloud now maybe now would be a good time
