joeinaz Report post Posted July 27, 2015 Upgrade my rifle or scope. Currently shooting a Weatherby Vanguard in .270 wsm topped with a Vortex Viper HS 4-14X44. Can only upgrade one. Either a Remington 700 Long Range or a Zeiss Conquest 5-20X50.

Antmo23 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 Glass first. Always. Your .270 is a great multi-species round.
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 What's wrong with the scope that's on it already? Save the money you would spend on a new scope and put it towards binos or scouting trips
duckhunter175 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 The zeiss conquest and conquest HD5 nice glass but they are a 1" tube and you have a 30mm already with the Vortex. Are you looking for more magnification or a different reticle? I would look at the Vortex HSLR 4-16x50--- they have a 50mm obj, front focal plane and 30mm tube. Sort of the best of both worlds. If you have to have higher magnification I would go with a Leupold VX6 4-24x52.
apache12 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 Redhawk rifles.com. Has demo scope. Good price
STOMP442 Report post Posted July 27, 2015 I vote scope as well because I wouldn't trust that Vortex as far as I could throw it. If you are going to spend the money on glass I wouldn't waste it on a Vortex.
eagle#eyes Report post Posted July 27, 2015 Are you selling the rifle/scope to fund the new one, or are you keeping your current set up and adding to it?
QhunterAZ Report post Posted July 27, 2015 what are you trying to do that you can't do with the combo you have? The only scopes I buy now are Vortex, I have wasted to much money on Leopold, Swarovski, Burris.

PRDATR Report post Posted July 29, 2015 The Grass Hopper speaks the truth. I hear that their next marketing ploy is lifetime free shipping, since Vortex warranties are the most cashed in ones in the industry. Good news is in another 20 years they may actually have some street cred when their quality catches up to their prices.
Jimmyc Report post Posted July 29, 2015 I have the same gun. Shoots a little less than a 1" group at 100. Love the gun. Just upgraded my 3 x 9 to a 6.5 x 20. Super excited for Thanksgiving this year.
QhunterAZ Report post Posted July 29, 2015 Hah take a look at the top shooting teams. Then think of any scope that has never needed work after a few hunts. Now take a bad tumble and send them in. Of coarse vortex warintes are used the most, they actualy cover every thing but theft . See who will get you back in the field on their dime and who will tell you to in my case buy a new one. every one has an opinion and some are fans and cant change. Figure out what you like, just factor it all in.
